  • Scott is running a training exercise. Since he's testing the capabilities of the students, he's staying in alter-ego through the whole scenario and requested the veteran members of the team sit this one out. As a show of good faith, Phoenix has volunteered to help out in the field if things start getting dicey, and Scott himself isn't afraid to throw on a Disguise to make sure the villain's schemes will be Foiled!. They are heroes after all.
  • Just because Scott isn't personally in the field doesn't mean he's not giving the situation his full attention. He'll be using Cerebro to make sure the New X-Men are ready to jump into the fray and the Danger Room to ensure they're equipped with the proper Mission Training. As he surveys the battle, he can mark Priority Targets and Exploit the Weaknesses of his foes to give the younger mutants an edge. (Jean says he may as well; he'd be the doing the same with the older team anyway.)
  • Since all the vets are out, the villains figure they don't need to take these kids seriously, so they're gonna be spending their time advancing their plot instead of trying to take down the X-Men. A Gentle right hook or a couple Goldballs to the face should show them the error of their thinking. His careful instruction (with some help from Pixie) will make sure the right X-Man is always on standby and ready for action, whether it be Blindfold to help Scott's planning or Dust to take out a horde of minions. With a little focus and Meditation, anything is possible.
  • Scott always makes sure he has more plans in motion than most do. Thanks to his Constant Training and his use of Cerebro, Scott will actually be able to make use of his surplus of options rather than feeling like they're hampering the mission.

I always love seeing Foiled! in a deck. Such an underrated card. Congrats on your first published deck!

@boomguy Thanks! Figured since you're always staying in alter-ego, there's no reason not to run Foiled!. The villain is always scheming, so it's playable every time you draw into it
