I have built this deck for a friend who is very new to the game. I would very much appreciate it if you would take a look at the deck and examine whether or not it is easy enough to be played by a newcomer to this game. Any thoughts or opinions that you have would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I would cut Team Building Exercise. It only works with 5 cards in the deck.

I would replace them with a Helicarrier and Mansion.

I think it depends on whether your friend is "new to the game." Or whether they are "new to games in general." If your friend is new to games in general, I think aggression is a great aspect. Play cards and deal damage, is an intuitive concept. I have seen some new player struggle with spider-man because he has reactive cards (backflip, enhanced spider-sense) and also a reactive ability. Some players might hoard those cards, just in case, which will mean they will have less resources on their next turn. Leaving them to feel less heroic. If the reason you chose spiderman, isn't because they really like the hero, I suggest taking this deck and putting it on Captain Marvel. I think she is the most new player friendly character in the core set. Great health, card draw, resources and damage.

`@Onions Thanks for taking a look at the deck. I definitely failed to notice that Team-Building Exercise only works with so few cards. Helicarrier and Avengers Mansion are great cards for new players, since they provide a lot of resources but I would be a bit worried to include those cards seeing as how they are going to increase the overall number of expensive cards in the deck. However I will give it a shot as I play test it.

@ToneeTales Sorry for not giving all this clarification at the beginning but I would say that my friend is new to this game specifically. My friend definitely enjoys playing board games but has never played a game on this type of level. I introduced the person to the game a few months back. As I introduced the game and we went through possible playable characters he seemed pretty drawn to Spider-Man. I think mainly cause he’s just such a big fan. I didn’t want to put a stop to him and prevent him from having fun; and since I know Spider-Man is a very good hero I decided to let him go with it. Originally I encouraged him to play aggression too, knowing that it’s quite easy to learn. But he didn’t seem to enthused. Protection came next to my mind but I didn’t want him to feel as though he wasn’t making any progress to the overall game. So I decided to balance thwarting and damage and put him on leadership. And as we all know leadership is quite flexible. I’d say his performance was adequate. I asked him if he would like to try anything new for the next time we got together to play but he’s still interested in Spider-Man/leadership. And I don’t want to force him to play something new. I agree Captain marvel is a great hero as she can do plenty. I suppose what I really want to give him with this deck is more decisions with his cards but not to overwhelm him as well as have him start noticing card combos (like Ronin with Inspired or Black Cat with the upgrade as well.
