[EDIT]: This is a somewhat involved overhaul of the deck, removing a lot of the useless defensive events in favor of allies and the dubious Stand Together, a card that can be tossed for an energy resource more often than not but can be useful in a pinch. Further edits have been added below to reflect these additions.

Welcome back to Precon Recon! Today, we'll be looking at Captain Marvel and how we can upgrade her deck to cosmic proportions. But before you read on, be sure to check out our breakdown of her core set and FFG official precon here: https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/2727362/1-2-punchboards-precon-recon-captain-marvel

Mighty Hand

Captain Marvel's greatest strength is her card draw, and this deck works to make the most of it. Quincarrier will allow you to trigger her core ability, healing you for 1 and drawing you an extra card. Combined with Avengers Mansion, Alpha Flight Station, and her Alter-Ego ability, and you can start turns with up to 9 cards at your disposal. This allows you to get a lot of stuff done. This also enables you to pay for powerful effects off-turn, such as Nova's ally effect, Subdue, or even Stand Together if you have the appropriate pieces in place. Yes, Stand Together isn't a particularly good card in the best of circumstances, but you can always toss it for an energy resource, and it can save you or your fellow player from a nasty swing by the villain.

Ever Vigilant, once thought to be one of the most powerful tools in your deck, is a nice support option for a character that, once her helmet is in play, will likely block for herself or her teammate. Once you get a copy of Cosmic Flight into play, you'll be able to remove a decent amount of threat while giving you the opportunity to take a swing or thwart some more.

Most of her other cards give her survivability options while also providing the ever-helpful energy resource. You want to stay in hero form as long as possible to abuse your healing and get hard work done, flipping down when Spider-Woman can confuse the villain or on those rare occasions when you need to heal. It's a pretty simple deck that relies on Carol's core set to do the heavy lifting we all know it can by giving her the tools to make that engine tick.

Thanks as always for stopping by, let us know your thoughts in the comments, and we'll see you in a few weeks for our next Precon Recon!
