Gambit versus Expert Magneto!

Suit of Cards

Another Suit Up deck with zero focus on voltron!

Suit Up is quickly becoming my favorite leadership card. Taking advantage of Suit Up's ability to tutor any ally from deck or discard is extremely powerful when paired with Moon Girl, a 2 THW, 2 ATK ally that refunds her 3 cost by drawing 3 cards. Weaving Threads is a Spider-Man decklist that focuses on this. This Gambit decklist focuses on another 2 THW, 2 ATK that is equally as efficient as Moon Girl when Gambit has at least 4 charge counters: Rogue!

Rogue

Gambit's signature ally, Rogue is a 2 THW, 2 ATK ally with toughness. After Gambit accumulates 4 charge counters, Rogue can be played from the hand for free as long as we don't use Gambit's counters. Suit Up is 3 effective resources, grabs 2 cards back, and Rogue is free to play. That means everytime we use Suit Up to grab Rogue, it's equivalent to having a 1 cost ally in your hand with Rogue's stats... which is insanely powerful!

Playstyle

This deck leans into Gambit's alter-ego with Suit Up for big alter-ego turns and Creole Charmer to confuse. We have player side schemes for Creole Charmer to remove the last threat of a scheme for its confuse condition in case the main scheme's threat is too high. Suit Up also grabs Honorary X-Men as an upgrade that can attach to an ally, but we only play it on Gambit so he gains the X-Men trait in alter-ego for cards like X-Jet, Utopia, and Uncanny X-Men. Control the villain, build up, then Throw De Card for big damage!

No moon girl in the list

@Space8es Gambit can’t play Moon Girl from the hand because she requires Champion/Genius trait. I was just referencing how Rogue ally is as efficient as Moon Girl and a good target for Suit Up!

Gambit is perfect for Suit Up! I highly recommend using the Suit Up to pull Pixie to pull a 0 cost Rogue combo. Along with using Suit Up for with Forge to get all your X-Men supports out early. :)

@Web-Warrior Fanatic Since you said this deck leans into are alter ego form then wouldn't side kick be a good addition to this deck? SInce were using rogue alot and she is one of are main targets for suit up?

@InigoMontoya That's a really good idea/combo! Awesome to get out multiple allies at once for cheap.

@Theblackflamingo I don't think Sidekick would work too well with this deck since Rogue doesn't have an effect that makes her useful to stay around and Sidekick helps the signature ally stick around longer. The biggest value of Rogue is her ability to be played for free from hand and toughness, which we can abuse by recurring her with Suit Up.

I have to admit I'm a bit jealous. I was working on a similar deck, with some tweaks (I was going to focus on Voltron-ing with Danger Room Training and Reinforced Suit). You beat me to it... and your name recognition doesn't hurt. Gambit (along with Captain America) is a perfect target for lots of allies: he wants to defend (3 DEF, Staff, and Guild Armor allows him to ready). He also wants to be in Alter Ego often because of Creole Charmer and his AE ability. Kudos here. Great minds thin alike.

Other than to purposefully avoid any sort of Voltron, is there any reason not to include Danger Room and Danger Room Training?

@InigoMontoya - totally agree on using Pixie. I had a deck based on that combo on here a while back using Med Lab - really strong to get two cheap allies out like that.

@saintmatthew Thanks man I appreciate the kudos, but I really think your idea is still original. My deck has nothing to do with voltroning with Danger Room Training so I think you should still make that deck and post it :)

@teamcanadahockey2002 I'm not purposely avoiding voltron! I just feel there's a lot of value in recuring Rogue and playing her for free. I'd rather play Rogue, have her activate, then chump block with her wasting 3 hit points and recur her again then anything else. She has so much versatility being able to thwart or attack for 2, either block or activate again next turn, or even block an overkill with her tough. To me she gets the most value when she's played from the hand and not staying on the board, similar to Moon Girl. Danger Room and especially the +1 THW/ATK from Danger Room Training power her up, but for this deck the setup isn't necessary since we're trying to get the most out of Rogue for as cheap as possible and have her leave play.

@Web-Warrior Fanatic If you are planning to just use Rogue once and chump (which is a pretty dubious strategy), then why not add Command Teams and Get Ready?
