The biggest issues with Iron Man is needing time to build his suit. 3 cards protect you in alter-ego while you ramp up: Foiled, Under Surveillance ("The Van"), Counterintelligence. In your opening hand you need 1 of these 3 cards and the van is the most valuable. Coulson was a priority so I could get spycraft out and avoid shadows of the past.
In my campaign I did not alter the deck at all in between rounds. I was about to handedly defeat each villain once I got over the hump. Things get a little scary early, so you main focus is keeping the board clear of threat and minions. Don't worry about taking out the villain fast (that is not what justice does).
Absorbing man was my biggest worry, but with some repulser blasts I was able to take him out with 4 counters on the board.
I took the Thwart upgrade and the Tactical Scanner. I wanted to make sure threat was never an issues/ I saved the scanner to have a massive first turn vs Red Skull.
I was also, able to rescue all 4 allies from Taskmaster. Once the board was stable I literally just cycled through the deck searching for the allies. Spending my turns clearing the board and discarding all my cards to keep the encounter cards coming. I went through the encounter deck 3 times.
This deck was also used to defeat Kang on solo expert.
{This is not the exact deck that I used, because when I finished I made minor adjustments to make it better.} This is what I changed: I removed 3 Earth's Mightiest Heroes and added = Heimall, Spycraft, & Counterintelligence. My reasoning I rarely used " Earth's Mightiest." Heimall would have been nice to help find the allies faster and once built I had the resources to pay for him. A 2nd spycraft because I was cycling through my deck quickly with Coulson coming up to all me to get and play another spycraft as insurance. There were times I wanted to spycraft something other than SOTP (like Hydra Soldiers) but didn't want to draw into SOTP. Lastly Counterintelligence just to increase the odd of finding 1 in my opening hand.
This is a great Iron Man deck. It is the generic Iron Man Justice Pairing, but done really well.
