Introduction
This is a hybrid build blending several complementary Cyclops archetypes.
This deck was specifically designed to team up with Iceman against Project Wideawake. The Iceman deck is D.M.Tip's Leading Snow: https://marvelcdb.com/decklist/view/46896/iceman-leading-snow-1.0
We have some special tech against beefy non-elite minions, but the deck is otherwise very versatile and easily customized.
Notes
Scott's primary strength is his access to the entire X-Men roster. Following Magneto's release, we can easily run an entire team of high-quality Psionic X-Men. This takes X-Men spam to the next level by unlocking cards like Cerebro, Psimitar, and The Power of the Mind.
Optic Blast is a powerful effect, but can be hard to land. Teaming up with Iceman means we'll almost always have targets available thanks to Frostbite. Meanwhile Iceman's minions can benefit from our Coordinated Attack, particularly against larger minions.
Cyclops loves to flip down, so we're doubling down on the flip down.
- We can grab any X-Men with Cerebro (provided we have one Psionic already). We'll often be looking for Professor X or Psylocke so we can confuse the villain on the same turn we flipped down.
- We can grab any Tactic upgrade with Constant Training (to optionally use as a resource).
- We can reduce the X-Men cost with Uncanny X-Men, pay the cost with X-Jet, and ready Scott with Utopia, but only if Scott is an Honorary X-Men.
We're also bringing Danger Room Training because it's simply fantastic value. Combined with Uncanny X-Men, our chosen allies will have +1 ATK, +1 THW, and +2 HP, generating insane amounts of value.
Strategy
Mulligan priorities:
- All of our Supports are certified bangers, so Build Support is a fantastic first pick.
- Uncanny X-Men is top dog. The +1 HP and cost reduction means we get our money's worth almost immediately.
- Utopia, Cerebro, and X-Jet are all great early investments.
- Professor X and Psylocke enable us to stay in Alter-Ego for an extra round, making it easy to build out fast.
Always keep at least one Psionic ally in play so Cerebro is at full power.
When playing Danger Room Training, be mindful of which allies you target. Marvel Girl, Mirage, and White Queen are generally the best options because they don't have particularly critical "enters play" abilities or counter-limited abilities.
Special mentions
- Rapid Response is very strong and combos with our numerous "enters play" abilities. However, it won't trigger Psimitar or benefit from the Uncanny X-Men discount, so we are justified in skipping it.
- Magik and Karma are mostly here for hilarious Sentinel antics. They can be removed or replaced according to taste.
- Psimitar can be a little awkward since it doesn't trigger in Alter-Ego, but it's really fun.
- Game Time didn't make the cut because there's already a lot going on in this deck, but it could be used to replace Coordinated Attack against villains with few or weak minions.
