Since the moment Listos para luchar was announced, we all knew it would be a card we'd see in many decks. Maybe a new archetype. There are heroes who can make good use of it, and others who can build an entire strategy around it. Magik falls into the latter category.
The main engine:
- We end the turn in alter-ego form. We draw 6 cards.
- At the beginning of the villain phase, we trigger Limbo's response to put on the top of our deck an energy printed card from our hand.
- When the villain is about to scheme, we trigger Listos para luchar response. We flip to hero form, so we trigger first Illyana Rasputin ability to put Barrera Mágica on the top of our deck (the first turn should be in our hand, so choose a resource spell). We trigger Moira's ability to draw a card (Barrera Mágica). We trigger Plan ensayado to avoid discarding Listos para luchar.
- We play “for free” Barrera Mágica (with Gen X) to prevent 3 damage. The card beyond Barrera Mágica is the resource that we put before, so deal 4 damage (3 plus 1 of Mystical Armor's retaliate)
- We draw an extra card with Mansión de los Vengadores for an extra card and total of 9 hand size with the card on the top of our deck, that can be played with Magik’s ability.
Basic concepts: 1) Resources: The most important one is the resource, which allows us to reflect damage every turn we trigger Listos para luchar through Barrera Mágica. Although we'll need a resource to play Listos para luchar, we have two options to ensure we can play it every turn thanks to Jet-X and Gema de sangre.
It’s important to keep in mind that most of the resources, once played, won’t show up again, so there will only be three available in our entire deck.
2) Set up: Our priority will be to reach our maximum hand size as quickly as possible and ensure we can play Listos para luchar every turn. If I had to prioritize the supports, it would be in the following order:
- Always Listos para luchar and Plan ensayado in play.
- Limbo, that is one of the main pieces of the engine.
- Jet-X or Gema de sangre to ensure we can play Listos para luchar
- Moira MacTaggert and
- Mansión de los Vengadores to maximum hand size.
- Magik's upgrades.
3) Allies selection: First, no resources. It’s focused on giving us extra turns, first to give us time to set up our main engine and then, turns in which we won’t need to recover Barrera Mágica:
- Armor and Clea gives us free blocks for the cost of two resources.
- Puño de Hierro gives us two turns where the villain won’t attack us.
- Polaris gives us one extra turn through a tough status (same as Colossus).
- Estrella del Norte can mitigate the damage we take (and we can also heal her every turn with Mansión X).
- Rondador Nocturno to prevent some extra damage.
Final notes -You dont need the whole set up to make this combo work properly. It works without Moira (you can play Barrera Mágica from the top of your deck). Don't worry if it takes you a while to draw Barrera Mágica, you heal yourself 6 hit point every turn with your basic recover + Doctora Sinclair.
-Disco de salto unlocks infinite funny combos with other Magik cards and you can recover it with Illyana's ability.
-Once we' ve reached our maximum hand size, try to keep a copy of Listos para luchar or Plan ensayado in your hand to keep the engine running every turn.
-Hechizo de escudo and Hechizo básico are resources, and this last one is especially versatile, as it can also be recovered on any turn using Illyana’s ability (since it’s a spell card). Also Hechizo de escudo will discard some cards of our deck, but don't be afraid of discard spells that can be recovered later with Illyana's ability.
Let me know if you give this Magikal Fight a chance and if you liked the deck. Feedback is always welcome!

Hey there. Really cool idea you got going on here. You've addressed one of the primary issues with Ready for a Fight that is to say, the physical resource requirement.
The one card I might recommend is Honorary X-Men so that you can use x-jet for Dr. Sinclair, but either way the deck is looking good!
