Bucky Barnes doesn’t spare change... or lives.
No Quarter decks are some of my favorite to play, and Winter Soldier is an ideal pilot. Thanks to Cybernetic Arm, which generates a wild resource specifically for attack events, Bucky isn’t just a strong user of No Quarter, he’s also an excellent enabler for Honed Technique. This combo not only amplifies damage but helps Bucky build out his board and improve his resource economy over time.
One common issue with No Quarter + Honed Technique decks is struggling to generate both a fist and a mental resource to pay for the combo. But Cybernetic Arm guarantees you’ll always have at least one of them. Throw in a Martial Prowess to further ensure you can pay for the combo every turn.
Even before Honed Technique is out, No Quarter can deal 5 damage when paid with Cybernetic Arm or 6 with the Arm + Aggressive Energy. Once Honed Technique hits the table, that same card can do up to 8 damage, making it a strong draw engine to extend the beat down and efficient board control tool. I tested Follow Through but found it unnecessary for it's cost (and opting for aggressive energy over power of aggression)
I play almost exclusively two-handed or multiplayer, and made this for playing the minion control role. Whenever I play a hero that likes to summon minions, has a minion related ability, or am playing in aggression I like to be able to clear the table of them too. That’s why I’ve focused on smaller attack events to guarantee I’m doing my job.
Use Cybernetic Arm or Aggressive Energy to pay for One by One to take out low-health minions and if one’s still standing, do it again or pivot to the villain. For bigger minions, Melee shines once Honed Technique is out.
- 6+6 with a mental
- 7+7 with Cybernetic Arm
- 8+8 with both Cybernetic Arm and Aggressive Energy
Don’t have Honed Technique out yet? That’s okay, Bucky's kit (Metal Punch and Electrical Discharge) or a string of smaller attack events can take care of bigger targets while you build.
I opted for Spoiling for a Fight over Looking for Trouble because I find the getting the ready to be more valuable than removing 3 threat (especially if I am summoning the minion to kill them which will remove 2 threat). 2 copies of Precision Strike for health insurance.
