Introduction

This my attempt at optimizing the "standard" Maria Hill experience, if there is such a thing.

The plan is to play big ships and feed them counters. The deck basically builds itself, and that's exactly what we're going for.

We will need:

  • Big ships
  • Little supports
  • Other

Big ships

I know what I'm about, son.

  • Pericles for survival.
  • Bellerophon for damage.
  • Douglass for thwarting.
  • Iliad for all of the above.

Little supports

Just give me all the supports you have.

We want low cost supports so we can get maximum value out of Reinforcements and Reassignment.

  • Field Agent is an automatic 3x. It's the cheapest aircraft fuel around. You can pump it into the ships twice as fast once Nick Fury joins the party.
  • Surveillance Team is the next most efficient target for Reinforcements and has a cool interaction with Monica Chang.

Wait, I worry what you just heard was, "Give me a lot of supports." What I said was, "Give me all the supports you have." Do you understand?

  • Government Liason funds our ventures.
  • Helicarrier also pays the bills and helps the table.
  • Med Team is the third and final pick for our deckbuilding ability. It's a value machine, allowing us to keep Nick and Agent 13 alive longer, translating to more resources and/or counters.

Allies

We can bring allies from any tribe and still use Field Agent on them, but we're not going to.

  • Agent 13 readies all of our tech.
  • Monica Chang grabs Surveillance Team, effectively making her 4 ER for a chump blocker and 4 counters.

Events

  • Super Spies because we intend to keep Nick alive with Med Team.
  • Homeland Intervention because we need extra thwarting to make up for flipping down aggressively. This also takes advantage of our many, many supports without having to use up counters.

Resources

  • Just the basic doubles will suffice, especially because we start with Special Funding. None of the "Power of" resources have enough targets.

Upgrades

  • Skilled Investigator is a staple.

Aaaand that's already 40! Boom, sorted.

Sideboard

  • Add more Skilled Investigators depending on the player count and scenario.
  • Add The Raft if it makes sense for the scenario.
  • Add Superpower Training if the team can collectively use and afford it. SHIELD Director is absurdly powerful.

Special mentions

  • Command Team is the other major consideration (in place of Med Team). It is more efficient as a direct counter source, but we have enough cheap supports to fill that role. We also don't have enough allies to justify burning through them.
  • Chance Encounter can help find our cool allies faster, but we're not in a major rush to find them.
  • Agent Coulson grabs Life Model Decoy, but we generally have better things to be doing.
