Falcon may ironically be one of the best users of Unflappable in the game:
- You often know what boost card you are receiving from the encounter deck (basically always in solo).
- He has one of the best defensive upgrades in Vibranium Microweave.
This means that even with only that one upgrade you can often trigger Flappable, helping to speed up the setup of a typically slow archetype. We can round out the defenses with Defensive Conditioning, Soaring Acrobatics, and Battlefield Awareness, which all have other benefits. The last two are only necessary for defense against some of the higher attack villains, so can usually be used elsewhere.
In this build I have tried to include synergies with most of Falcons kit, while not going overboard on setup. Besides Flappable, Falcon has plenty of other tricks and a versatile toolkit. I will try to mention a few plays I have found useful while going through the deck. I found Falcon a tricky hero to get used to at first, but really satisfying once you get the hang of it.
Defenses
- Vibranium Microweave gives a way to defeat minions in the villain phase, so we use Change of Fortune. Just leave them on 1 HP and tune your defense to ensure you can trigger the damage.
- Aerial Recon can look for minions to feed Change of Fortune. This additionally gives safer flips to alter-ego.
- If you end up with many minions in play, you do not have to defeat all of them straight away thanks to Draw Their Fire. Leave some to defeat on future turns and trigger Change of Fortune.
- If you have tough from Hidden Base, Up, Up, and Away gives you card draw plus a defend to trigger Flappable without exhausting. Jocasta is here to help enable that (Powerful Punch is an extra target if you don't have Up, Up, and Away)
Preparations
- Draw Their Fire and Aerial Evacuation are super versatile, so we include Practiced Plan to recycle them.
- With Aerial Evacuation and Ready for a Fight you can switch between hero and alter-ego forms in the middle of the villain phases, which lets you split threat and damage as you need to. Additionally, Anticipation is a nice way to ready after defending a villain attack.
- These cards are all quite cheap and give you plenty of options, especially when you see which encounter cards you are receiving.
Supports
- We have easy access to alter-ego thanks to Aerial Recon and Aerial Evacuation.
- I often found it useful to trigger Aerial Evacuation from an allies consequential damage, so that you can flip to alter-ego and back again in one player phase. It makes it easy to use Hidden Base and Dr. Sinclair.
- Quincarrier rounds out your resources and means you can always pay the correct resource for Dr. Sinclair.
Allies
- Our plan is to have Falcon defend against attacks. Therefore, we pick allies that avoid consequential damage or heal: Cannonball, Cosmo, and White Widow.
- Yellow Jacket helps to find important upgrades and Jocasta saves us a defense for the best moment.
Other Tips
For the upgrades you should prioritise Vibranium Microweave plus one of the draw cards Flappable and Change of Fortune. Then, I would say Aerial Recon and one of Soaring Acrobatics, Battlefield Awareness, or Defensive Conditioning.
For the supports you should try to get at least one of either Falcon's Flock or Quincarrier early on, just to help pay for the upgrades. Soup Kitchen can be decent, but is more situational.
So, in general the plan is to manipulate the top card of the encounter deck, discard boost icons, take easy encounters/minions, and leave the last card with as few boosts as possible. Utilise allies and Falcons Eagle-Eyed ability to do this.
Make the most of switches to alter-ego. There is plenty of healing if you need it. Also, use the opportunity to search for Redwing or Falcon's Flock.
Although this was built for solo, it should work well enough in multiplayer. For that you will not always know which boost cards you are getting, but you should still have enough defense to block all of the damage. For Change of Fortune you can always take a bit of damage from the minion attack to trigger Vibranium Microweave.
