LACK OF SUBTLETY · 3057
This began as an attempt to find a use for Recuperation, but Winning Hand's deck build challenge for Ready for a Fight has given me an excuse to post it as part of it. Fair warning, I pulled this from the oven early, so it hasn't gotten much playtesting time. If you spot any holes in it, let me know.
What does this deck do? It tanks damage without defending, then is left free to activate more often. Just soak the hit points, flip down and heal. Taking advantage of Hulkling's abundance of hit points and resources.
Ready for a Fight has obvious use here, allowing you to flip down, heal, gather a _Shapeshift__ card, and then pop back up, ready for more. Teddy has a great 4 REC base, which can be bumped up to 6 with Down Time, plus the 2 more he can get from Altman Residence. Allowing him to soak a lot of damage and come back fresh. Recuperation is not a great card, not even really a good card. But Hulkling can find a use for it here by flipping down while exhausted, using his 2 resource shapeshift card to pay for it, then getting a replacement shapeshift card on his next turn and flipping back up. Healing without ever exhausting. Or just letting Ready for a Fight flip him up instead.
In hero form, Hulkling can linger in Hulk Shape or Winged Shape, gaining bonus damage and thwart from the shape responses, while having access to improved stats for multiple activations. You have multiple tools for stretching your HP. Hidden Base gets you tough, Preemptive Strike and Defiance deny extra damage from boost cards, Energy Barrier blocks damage and Defensive Conditioning gets you extra HP and DEF for when you do end up defending. Speaking of which, "I Can Do This All Day" can let you stay up for activations on your turn or to defend multiple teammates in multiplayer.
Imitation Shape has a unique trick withe Ready for a Fight, in that you can use it in hero form. The enemy would scheme, so they attack instead, you can still use the hit point soaking tactics you are normally using with this deck, but getting to use your improved THW and card draw response.

Thanks for making a deck for the episode, and I love seeing underused cards like Recuperation!
