I realized I have a lot of gimmicky decks in the reserve on MCDB that I just have not gotten around to actually making a write up for, so we're going to try and do some spring cleaning and actually get some out there. Here is one of the simpler ones!

At a Glance

Player Counts: Any

Play style: Straightforward combo with lots of control options.

Strengths: Great Economy, plenty of tempo tools, multiplayer scaling, slew of good control options, excellent burst potential.

Weaknesses: Hand ripping and setup hate will hurt your high score. The meme build also can get challenged in encounters that demand chump blocking as a form of damage mitigation.

Altitude X

Amazingly, at the time of writing, no one's shared an Angel Deck with Everywhere All at Once yet. I guess with the sheer number of Heroes and Archetypes in the game now, not all the low hanging fruit gets picked? That's fine for us, because we get to double down on a really fun gimmick the defacto aerial mutant gets with the new justice event.

For starters, we have a rules clarification! It's recently been confirmed that for X cost cards, players get to choose the cost of the card when they play it. This may sound obvious but it clears up some confusion previously with wording around the value of X being determined by the cards effect, and whether the cost of the card could be greater than what the effect could actually target. To wrap this up simply, we can set the cost of Everywhere all at Once to be anything we want, even if it is greater than the number of schemes in play.

Now that we know we can set the cost of EaaO sky high, we can have some real good fun with Archangel's Angel of Death ability. Simply dump every resource you have available in it, and then proc Angel of Death for a massive takedown of any enemy!

The High Life

Now to be clear, Angel does not need any kind of gimmicky deck building to win. Honestly Angel plus his good stuff package is good enough to when most matchups without much backup. So instead of optimizing the fun out of this list, we're optimizing the fun in it. To do this, we're shooting for a high score, and equipping Angel with every tool he has to dump more resources into our Everywhere Bomb.

When you're not doing that, feel free to use Everywhere on the cheep to easily proc Angel of Life, use angels stellar control tools, and close with his stellar burst tools.

Big Numbers

There's lots of ways you can change this up for your own approach. Get extra resources from Teammates, play the enhanced upgrades to bank more, etc. Play what you think will get you a new personal best! Mine has been 11 damage, and honestly the limiting factor for my game with it was the super quick 5-turn win we had boxing out attempts for something bigger, a normal Angel problem honestly.

Happy gaming!
