Thor is now a proud American citizen and he's here to defend his right to carry weapons!

NOTE : This is my first homemade deck with a character that I personnaly enjoy playing even though the community does not seem to like him very much. This deck is built for solo play, I don't know if it would work well for multiplayer but I think he would lose some of his value since he can't really help that much with minions. Also I'm French, so I apologize in advance for grammar mistakes and potential strange sentences, I did my best!

This deck beat :

  • Risky Business Expert w/ Power Drain
  • Rhino Expert w/ Masters of Evil
  • Ultron Standard w/ Under Attack
  • Klaw Standard w/ Running Interference

The idea behind this deck was to build something around Thor's weapons Mjolnir and Jarnbjorn in order to make him a direct attacker rather than relying on event cards. I also wanted to try cards from multiple decks and see how they could work together, this is why you will need to have 4 expansions packs in order to reproduce that deck. I've had very tough games with this deck, which means that it is not absolutely smooth and beginner-friendly, even against allegedly easy opponents, but I love it that way because you have to be extra careful and to make the right moves at the right time in order to win.

This is an agression deck made to deal with any kind of villain, but especially those with few minions (that's why no Relentless Assault) like Green Goblin Risky Business, Rhino and modular sets which contain very few minions such as Power Drain or Running Interference. The main damages will then be made by Thor's direct attack, which can easily reach 6 thanks to Combat Training, Mjolnir and Skilled Strike.

The big problem with this deck and Thor in general is of course threat management and the fact that you have to rely on Defenseur des Neuf Royaumes in order to thwart. The obvious but effective solution is to keep on relying on the combo Defenseur des Neuf Royaumes to draw a minion, draw 2 cards with Thor's ability, kill the minion with Uppercut or your basic attack and use Chase Them Down to reduce threat (which feeds Hall des Héros). In that perspective, Dame Sif should only be used for thwarting plus you won't need to go back often in alter-ego form thanks to Temps mort. As the name suggests it, Emergency is here to save you from an unexpected growth in the villain's scheme and is useful for Frappe Froudroyante.

The strategy for this deck, alike most Thor decks, is to get Asgard as soon as possible. However, you do not need to "use Mjolnir as a resource" as much as in other decks since you want it to help you deal damage with your basic attack and for Lancer de Marteau. All of this means that before you seriously start to do big damage to the villain, you'll have to put into play several support and upgrade cards, which is not the most common thing for an agression deck, which usually relies on events. Playing support and upgrade cards rather than events is my playstyle (that's why I love Black Widow and her Preparation cards) and I think it gives Thor more sustainability and versatility in order to face any villain, because once you have your 3 free resources each turn (2 Dieu du Tonnerre and Quinporteur) you can do pretty much anything you want.

No Avengers Mansion (which is somehow a challenge I wanted to try because it's usually everywhere) because you can easily draw thanks to your hero ability and Hall des Héros.

The "Double Weapon" that you have with Jarnbjorn and Mjolnir is intended to make use of Coup avec Elan which is a very underused card that I really wish to make effective, even though it clearly is not the best agression card.
