The premise of this deck is to promote [Drax] being attacked early and often to not only power up his vengeance counters but activate counters and upgrades. (One villain attack that is defended can activate a vengeance counter, a token on Angel's Aerie and possibly Unflappable. Cards like Bait and Switch and Taunt will promote the villain attacking Drax. Powering up the vengeance counters allows for 1- additional card draws after 3 tokens and better uses of Intimidation, Parry, and Payback.

Drax has a mix of cards to negate incoming damage (Groot, Side Step, Desperate Defense, and Parry. Being able to defend to power up certain supports and attacking in the same turn are critical to big damage pays, hence the 3 copies of Indomitable.

Promoting villain attacks too much can put Drax at risk of taking significant damage over a few turns, hence the healing Supports Angel’s Aerie and Night Nurse. Mantis is a great support for her ability to heal Drax to stay in hero mode. Render Medical Aid and Second Wind can be a good healer for not only Drax, but other teammates as well. They also can keep Drax in hero mode an additional round if Scheming from the Villian isn’t ideal. When the inevitable has to happen to go to AE, Drax can capitalize on healing from both Angel's Aerie and removing the vengeance counters. The turn from AE to Hero should have significant payoffs with a the higher hand limit allowing more event plays and a wide range to take more damage from the healing in AE.

The ally selection here is to primarily to deal with minions and chump damage in situations where dealing more damage to Drax in one round isn’t ideal. Team-Building Exercise is here to help offset ally cost (the rounds where Drax deals only 4 cards in hero mode without drawing any additional, can make 3 cost allies difficult to recruit on their own). This build focuses on a cheaper economy to avoid those turns where Drax only draws 4 cards and isn’t able to draw more from events.
