Ghost-Spider is an excellent defender, but she is also a DPS machine.
Gameplan:
- Defend, and passively trigger effects
- Ready + attack
- Ready + attack again
- Ready + attack again? (Depending on setup)
- Draw base handsize + 5 per round
Overall, this aggressive, defensive spider deck will have you feeling like a gatling gun.
In-Depth Guide
Fully upgraded with Armored Vest, Defense Specialist and Symbiote Suit, she reaches a stunning 6 defense. She should realistically never take damage.
When fully upgraded, she will trigger powerful effects upon using a basic defense.
The first time you defend an attack each round:
- Remove 3 threat from the main scheme (Hard to Ignore x3)
- Draw 2 cards. (Unflappable and Defense Specialist)
- Deal 1 damage to the attacking character (Electrostatic Armor)
Ghost-Spider's main mechanic is that she readies herself once per phase when she plays a response/interrupt event.
It is recommended to ALWAYS defend an attack during the villain phase in order to get your on-defend triggers. Then play one of a response/interrupt event to ready yourself.
Enter the hero phase ready, and then use another event to ready yourself after your first basic power use.
In addition to readying, these events will also allow you to draw a card if you have Web-Bracelets in play. (Up to 2 per cards per round.)
Responses/Interrupts (x16)
- Get Behind Me! x3
- Ghost Kick x 3
- Never Back Down x3
- Phantom Flip x 3
- Pirouette and Punch x2
- Web Binding x 2
I also included some cards to help Ghost-spider ready an additional time.
- What Doesn't Kill Me x 2
- Spider-Man x 1
Why Symbiote Suit?
- Since Ghost-Spider can ready multiple times a turn, the +1 value to basic abilities adds up.
- +10 hit-points supplements her ability to take damage when not defending.
- Ghost-spider can use +1 hand size to add value to the game, whether in getting her upgrades faster or playing powerful events.
- We have 5 treachery-stopper cards to help mitigate the additional encounter cards. (Get Behind Me! x 3 and Pirouette and Punch x 2)
Why The Power In All of Us?
- Helps pay for Spider-Man, Venom, and Symbiote Suit
If Symbiote Suit is not your style:
- Swap Symbiote Suit for Endurance.
- Swap Venom and the The Power in All of Us x2 for Electrostatic Armor x 3.
This was incredibly fun to play - drawing George Stacy in the opening hand was very powerful. Thanks for putting this together!
