Maximise Your Events & Upgrades/ Wild Resources Galore!
So this is a deck I created based on maximising wild resources, with the intent being, you will have a greater chance to capitalise on Magik's hero upgrades and events, that give you additional benefits for having a wild resource on the top of your deck. Soul Strike,Exorcism and Magic Barrier will also give you stun, confuse and additional damage whilst Magik's upgrades such as Soulsword, Magik's Crown and Mystical Armor will boost your base stats to 2/3/3 which are by all accounts pretty solid.
By making wild resources more plentiful, there is more of a chance to gain the maximum benefits of Magik's upgrades and events, rather than having to rely on the random resource revealed when turning the top of deck face up. Chances are you may have a wild resource in your hand too...and with Limbo, you can ensure a wild resource remains on top of your deck.
Stun Lock in Limbo
Though not as effective in Standard II or against villains with Steady or Stalwart, Magik's ability to stun and confuse is valuable in order to give you time to build your board and play the likes of Limbo, Team-Building Exercise and X-Gene. I've included 2 x copies of Upside the Head however if stun lock isnt beneficial, then perhaps consider supplementing it with two more copies of Clear the Area in order to maintain the balance of mental, physical and energy resources in the deck.
No Double Resources!
One of the defining traits of this deck is the lack of double resource cards. This hasn't proven a problem at all due to the likes of Team-Building Exercise, Bloodgem and X-Gene taking up the slack... I even found no rush to get The X-Jet into play and this is also largely due to Magik's hero action reducing the cost of the top card in the deck as well as modestly costed allies and events... you find you don't need to spend too much to play Magik's cards.
How to Pay for Cards then...
With double resource cards not featuring in the deck, the likes of The Power of Justice and The Power in All of Us become the most valuable resources for the higher cost cards such as Legion, Deadpool, Blindfold and Marvel Girl. Again, if they are on top of the deck, or if Team-Building Exercise is in play, then the Power of... cards is all you'll need to play them.
Passion for Justice and Determination are added to help with thwarting as well as provide wild resources so they can either assist with threat or again boost the hero events and upgrades to get the most out of them. The likes of Clear the Area also can gain from this by having a thwart boost from Passion for Justice...making the possibility of card draw more likely.
I originally added 3 x copies of Digging Deep (which you still can do) however I found that since only Zone of Silence, Scrying and Legion discard cards from the deck, then 2 x copies are enough and it's more a neat bonus to get Digging Deep into the hand....not a necessity, for this deck.
