Mr. Morale & The Side Steppers

Someone had to make a Cyclops Change of Fortune deck, and you know what? It is actually really good! If you are careful and plan things out right you will not be taking much damage and drawing lots of cards which is always a great time!

A few things that make Cyclops such a good candidate for Change of Fortune:

  1. Provides reliability for the card Under Control as not only can Cyclops pull it to hand with his Constant Training ability he can also pull it back with Tactical Brilliance. Under Control is usually in your hand at the wrong time and Cyclops can solve that.
  2. Same goes for "Come Get Me, Bub!"! While this can't be grabbed with Constant Training it can be fetched with Tactical Brilliance! Thus setting you up with a reliable way to go get a minion.
  3. Cyclops doesn't really need his basic that much, the goal here will be to not basic defend minions, but if you had to it is not that bad of a choice and we have 2 copies of Indomitable just in case. 4: He has ways of dealing 1/2/3 damage, and access to piercing. Perfect for getting minions into the right range to be defeated by Under Control or Side Step
  4. Lastly....

Priority Target

If I can get you to read one thing, just ONE THING, it is this: you can draw 5 cards in the villain phase with just one minion defeat.

Unflappable (1), Change of Fortune (2), and Priority Target (2).

So trust me when I say Side Step and Jump Flip are worth it haha. If you are just willing to let a minion float until the villain phase and are able to get them in range of a Side Step or Under Control you are going to get a huge dopamine hit defeating that minion in the villain phase. I could bore you with math and tell you it all ends up being worth it, but that doesn't matter because popping 5 cards to hand is such fun moment. Actually gaining some momentum and tempo is the icing on top, and Cyclops adds such reliability that getting there doesn't require nine eight planets to line up first.

I really hope you all give this a go! I typically don't like playing Cyclops much, but this has been a lot of fun.

Sideboard

In higher player counts where minions might be flying around a lot more you can do the following:

-2x of "Come Get Me, Bub!"

+1x of Unflappable

Just to help get the engine online more reliably and remember you can put a copy of Unflappable and Change of Fortune under another player's control. Just make sure you have other Caught off Guard targets before you do so.

If in a scenario with a lot of piercing sub Polaris for Triage.

Achievement - In Mutagen Formula draw 5 cards in back to back villain phases

Sidestep and jump flip with under control is like one of my favorite all-time combos in the game! So glad to see it on such an unconventional chassis!

I really like the use of Under Control. I have been meaning to make it work and it fits well in Cyclops.

Always cool to see cyclops work in a deck that doesn't rely on a ton of x men allies!

Cyclops Protection with CoF is something I've been testing out as well. It's a blast! I love your version here. Cyclops can control tactics so well, you can get what you need pretty much on-demand to take out those minions. I'm currently testing with a few copies of Pinned Down, just to keep minions around a little longer, but it's probably not necessary in the normal scenario. Well done!

It's messed up what they did to Pluto, isn't it?
