Why would you want to play Fury in protection?
He has a pretty average defence, doesn't really have any DEF boosting effects, certainly doesn't have any synergy with most protection events.
Well good news, you're not going to be defending!Unless you have to.
This deck is structured around Fury building up all his wonderful tech gadgets (thanks to help from Leo Fitz and Jemma Simmons), and popping off with high value turns. You're going to want to prioritize finding Fury's Flying Car as early as possible, and then make sure you always have a Forcefield Generator and to a lesser extent Energy Barrier, ready to soak some damage.
So How do I play the deck? With Fury, once you're into hero mode you won't be taking damage from attacks right away. the first few turns you should focus on building up your side of the board while thwarting the main scheme and amassing threat on your suit form. Eventually you'll be ready to go on the offensive.Flip to assault suit form with an attack and then it's time to do some real damage, in maybe another round. Have your shield(s)take a hit for you during the villain phase. Then on your turn (after a basic atk/thw), use Repurpose to recycle your tech, giving you a ready and a stat buff. Next, have your car give you another ready, and ideally, have an Ever Vigilant in hand for a 3rd ready (yes don't forget your flying car gives you aerial!). That means in a turn you may get 4 thwarts/attacks, 3 of them with a potential +3, and damage can be buffed by the suit or you can put more threat on it by thwarting. Very Versitile.
So what are all these others cards Things from the villain phase can quickly derail your plans for a perfect turn, so there is some mitigation in the deck to make sure your setup remains set up. Northstar and Target Acquired will make sure when you do take a hit you(and your shields) don't take too much damage from a bad boost card,Black Widow is there to help prevent a bad treachery draw, and good ol' The Night Nurse will take off your stun/confuse so you don't lose any potential momentum on your turn
results In about 10 games against Agents of S.H.I.E.LD villains and a couple others, Fury has never needed to recover once. Flipping down to Alter-Ego can be done when you've depleted the main scheme or you'd like to get back to your stealth suit and don't have a Covert Surveillance handy.
