Ready Spectrum One (July '25 Update)
I've only made a few changes to this deck since running it through the Next Evolution campaign. All of the additions are cards which hadn't been released at that time.
Here are the changes:
- Black Widow >> Dr. Sinclair
- Superpower Training >> Specialized Training
- Starhawk, Knowhere, and The Night Nurse >> 3X Ready for a Fight
Dr. Sinclair gives you an extra 3 healing when you flip to alter-ego.
Specialized Training will pull Combat Specialist (for me), because attacking for 4 and drawing a card is better than attacking for 3.
Ready for a Fight not only fits the theme of the deck because it has the word "Ready" in its title, but it also alleviates the biggest complaint most people have with Spectrum: "It's too easy to get stuck in an unwanted form".
I've stated in the past that the best way to get unstuck is to flip down to Alter-Ego, but that's not always viable depending on many factors. Ready for a Fight lets you flip down to get unstuck, recover (and maybe heal with Dr. Sinclair too), then flip back up when the villain would scheme with 6 cards in your hand.
The other cards
Allies:
- Brother Voodoo will hopefully find the card I need in the moment
- Ironheart is just your classic "draw a card, do 1 thing, then defend" ally
- Mockingbird gets a Stun!
- Professor X gets yo a Confuse, great thwarting, and a defend.
Events:
- Ever Vigilant is part of the "Ready up" theme and also helps with threat removal
- What Doesn't Kill Me also fits "Ready up" and provides a little healing
Player Side Schemes:
- I prefer Build Support for Quincarrier because it's more expensive
- As mentioned above, Specialized Training is here for Combat Specialist
Supports:
- As mentioned above, Dr. Sinclair basically "sort of" doubles your recovery
- Quincarrier and both Energy Duplication pays for any card in the deck. It also generates in case you need for What Doesn't Kill Me or Ready for a Fight
Upgrades:
- To reiterate, Ready for a Fight aids you in getting unstuck because it allows you to "safely" flip down to Alter-Ego
- Ready to Rumble is the final component of "Ready up" when you're changing energy forms during the hero phase.
Final Thoughts
I've really enjoyed using Ready for a Fight with other heroes, and it fits so nicely in Spectrum because it helps solve a problem!
I'm going to showcase this deck on the channel at some point, I just don't know when or against which villain.
I enjoyed your first iteration of this deck quite a bit! I think your changes make sense and I’ll play this one soon.
