This Cable deck focuses on his thwarting away side schemes early on in the game, then capitalizing on the power of his events later in the game. The most important card in this build is the Uncanny X-Force. This card allows his minions thwart side schemes to a reasonable number for him to defeat (triggering his hero ability) taking no consequential damage, and then leaves Cable open to thwart the main scheme. This deck works very well in a multiplayer game where your fellow players can help with thwarting at the beginning.
Important notes:
- Try to get Deadpool out very early on in the game, as his team-up with Cable can allow Cable to trigger his ability and remove threat from the main scheme and side schemes. He is also able to thrive until you get Uncanny X-Force, being un-killable from consequential damage.
- You want to get a copy of Inspired into your discard pile as early into the game as you can. Once Deathlok comes up, you want to be able to attach it to him, allowing him to obtain a thwart of 4 (including Uncanny X-Force).
- Using Cable's Soldier X ability, there are a few good side schemes to grab. I recommend one of the following:
- Call for Backup (to get your allies out early, start with Deadpool)
- Going Undercover (to get a cheap side scheme into the victory display. If possible, have it grab a side scheme or Shadow of the Past)
- Build Support (to get either Graymalkin or Uncanny X-Force, again prioritize Uncanny X-Force)
- The earlier you can get out Mission Leader the better. This card will allow everyone at your table to draw a card, becoming a better version of Skilled Investigator (note: you must be in hero form to trigger this)
- Use Teamwork to enable your allies to help you thwart the main scheme while not taking any consequential damage and help you complete Back to the Future and Technovirus Purge. (These side schemes can only be thwarted by Cable)
I hope you all enjoy this build and please, give me any suggestions you have to improve the deck!
