Drax the Destroyer was formed by a cosmic entity out of earth and clay to destroy Thanos, and infused with the twin souls of the human Arthur Douglas and the cosmic force known as Destroyer. He's been re-created multiple times in the comics, but this clay "Golem" infused with twin souls on a mission of vengeance is something worth celebrating.
Mechanically this deck doesn't do much new, but is focused on staying in hero form the entire game (since Drax's tempo is disrupted by regressing to alter ego)
- Endurance and Symbiote Suit boost his max health.
- His basic attack gets up to 6 within the deck (though this can go higher if other players gift you Combat Training or Combat Specialist)
- Ready and Re-ready with CITT and Limitless Stamina.
- Multiple readies plays into his economy. Most cards in the deck are cheap, and DWI Theet Mastery gets you more options each time you basic attack.
- Both Mantis and Starhawk are meant to stay on the board and "heal" Drax every turn.
- Mantis heals for 3 with each activation, and if you heal her with First Aid, you multiply the two healing into six (over two turns)
- Starhawk can prevent 3 damage with Aerial Intervention, and can do this for any friendly character at the table if Drax doesn't need it.
- Shake it Off and Parry can "heal" Drax by negating incoming damage.
- Taken all together, the healing and preventing damage make the Clay Golem pretty durable, and able to stay in hero form perpetually (without actually defending) and attacking usually 3-4 times per turn to clean the board of minions and bruise the Villain.
- Thwarting is a weakness of this deck. Intimidation does great work when you're at max vengeance counters, but it's not flexible for dealing with side schemes. If you're playing solo: rush. If you're in a group, someone else will deal with the threat!
And that's it! Probably not anything that hasn't been done before, but I I like Aerial Intervention used by Drax for Drax, and I think it works pretty well. Have a great day!
