Scenario tested: Unus (Expert)
Modular Set: The Savage Land
Deck Concept
The main goal of this deck was to tackle Unus on Expert, paired with The Savage Land. This setup gives Unus Retaliate 1 permanently, and he can easily reach Retaliate 2 with Gene Pool. (I’ve been experimenting a lot with Marvel Shuffle lately, and this deck came out of that!).
Core Strategy
Justice Psylocke feels incredibly strong! The deck follows a simple gameplan:
-
Set up your resource engine early with Avengers Mansion, Moira MacTaggert, Training Regimen and Team-Building Exercise.
-
Once stabilized, control the villain by Confusing him using Flurry of Blades, Psionic Redirect, and Upside the Head.
-
Finally, burst down the villain with Flurry of Blades, empowered by Float Like a Butterfly.
With both Psi-Katana in play, Flurry of Blades jumps from 6 to 9 damage!
Card Highlights
Scare Tactic synergizes perfectly with Float Like a Butterfly, giving extra damage to confused enemies.
Banshee is excellent to thwart and confuse minions without losing tempo.
Chamber is fantastic at clearing minions and dealing damage to the villain, all without taking consequential damage.
Your core SKILL cards (Float Like a Butterfly, Upside the Head and Making an Entrance) can all be recurred using Training Regimen, keeping your engine consistent.
Optional Cards and Adjustments
Psychic Manipulation is strong, but in solo play, I’d actually cut it. You already have plenty of thwarting power, and since the villain is almost always confused, it will rarely be useful. I would consider replacing it with one extra copy of Scare Tactic and Making an Entrance. In multiplayer, keep it. There are more schemes and more opportunities to trigger it.
Psimitar with Side Holster are amazing additions if the scenario doesn’t punish attacks with Retaliate. Against Unus, I skipped them because Psimitar counts as an attack (meaning 2 to 4 Retaliate damage if done with Flurry of Blades!) but in other scenarios, they’re worth it. Psimitar even triggers Float Like a Butterfly for 3 damage instead of 2!
Game Feel and Resilience
This deck gives you incredible control over both the villain and the schemes (way less effective against a villain with stalwart). Despite Psylocke’s lower health, her confuses makes alter-ego turns safe and reliable. If you ever get low, just flip down, since with confuse, the villain will almost never be able to scheme. It’s genuinely hard to lose with this build once you get rolling.
Final Considerations
There were moments where I wanted to both heal with Making an Entrance and confuse/stun with Upside the Head, but both require a basic action. Because of that, Making an Entrance could be swapped out for other healing options like:
X-Mansion and Crew Quarters.
Since thwarting is rarely an issue, those healing tools might be the more efficient route.
Or maybe swap Upside the Head with Concussive Blow, which solves the basic action issue but you will not have those incredible stuns and is a lot more expensive... You can also consider Sonic Rifle but if you want the Psimitar and both Psi-Katana, you don't have much space to play it...
Summary
Strengths:
- Reliable Confuse control
- Recursion for key SKILL cards
- Strong burst damage potential with Flurry of Blades and Float Like a Butterfly
Weaknesses:
- Low draw power in hero form. Consider Assess the Situation for more draw power.
- Limited healing if Making an Entrance is cut and no other options are added (see above).

Great deck and write up! Psylocke is an interesting hero, I like her a lot more than Miles when it comes to status cards. You've really thought this through, hope you publish more great decks!
