My Favotire Hero

From the start, War Machine has been easily one of my favorite characters. He feels very unique, and I enjoy how quickly he can get tempo going on board with his Shoulder Cannon. From there, I was left wondering how to best make him. For a while, the justice Float Like a Butterfly deck felt real good. Lots of extra damage on each flip up, and a bit of extra thwarting, which is his weak point.

Then came Ready for a Fight

This card alone has changed the game for me in many ways, but ithas made the biggest difference for me here with War Machine. You spend less time in Alter-Ego for less villain scheming, you get ammo counters more oftern for more damage, Upgraded Chassis helps keep you alive with tough and allows for easy Hard to Ignore and Unflappable procs, it just does it all!

Secret Hero - Leo Fitz

At first I just went 'oh hey, this works because James Rhodes has the S.H.I.E.L.D. trait. Just throw it in!' but I have seen the light since then. This card along is secretly incredibly potent. The main reason why is actually Gauntlet Gun. When you flip back to Alter-Ego, you can use your ability to shuffle a Gauntlet Gun from your discard pile into your deck, if there isn't one there already, and put it into your hand with Leo. This way, you always have physical resources for your Ready for a Fights. It also helps you get set up early game by finding your Upgrade Chassis and Shoulder Cannon for much cheaper than Iron Man, or gets energy resources through Forcefield Generator or the second copy of Energy Shield to pay for Energy Shield itself!

Why Energy Shield Though?

There are two reasons for Energy Shield, which is why there is two in the deck. The main one is the synergy between Agent 13 and Munitions Bunker. Energy Shield can keep Agent 13 alive indefinitely, and with you flipping down often you can use the Alter-Ego option on Munitions Bunker to stack up ammo counters until you are ready to blitz through the villain. Secondly, with us defending often to trigger Hard to Ignore, Unflappable, and Containment Strategy, we don't get too many chances to actually Rec. Tough statuses from our Upgrade Chasis help, as does Patriot if too many minions show up, but the little bit of healing from an Energy Shield or The Night Nurse really keeps you up and in the game.

So what is the plan?

Upgraded Chassis is the #1 thing I go looking for. It keeps you alive. If you cannot find it, hopefully Leo Fitz is around to help with your search. In the first turn, Read for a Fight isn't the most important. You can't flip down when you start down after all. Second most important is the Shoulder Cannon. Keeps minions in check, and is the easiest way to chip at the villain's health. Honestly, beyond that, everything is at your leisure. Get down Evaluate Threat to eventually get either Quincarrier or Avengers Mansion at some point. Personally I aim for Quincarrier first, but if I already have it down then Avengers Mansion is a great second choice. Yellow Jacket not only helps find the Upgraded Chassis and the Shoulder Cannon, but also helps get our Ready for a Fights and Practiced Plans. With our deck being nearly half upgrades, you can pretty consistently have Ready for a Fight out, either drawing a new one or bouncing a different one back to your hand with the Practiced Plan. Targeted Strike really isn't bad threat removal either, especially as you can shuffle it back into your dekc. Full Auto helps with big guys, Scorched Earth helps deal with a lot of guys. prett straight forward! A fun thing here is with us defending against the villain often, you can dodge the negative boost effect of Laser Strike after your nemesis enters the game!

Final Thoughts

This is probably the deck I have put the most effort into, and definitely the one I have put the best description into. I don't post most of my decks since, well, I don't think I'm the best at this game. I miss a lot of things, sometimes read cards wrong, or don't understand rulings. That's one of the reasons I love this deck. It's a good all-rounder, and pretty straight forward. You win by just playing good cards. Hopefully it seems interesting to you too reader. Let me know if I missed something, or how you might change things to your liking! Best of luck in your future games Champions!

Energy Shield on Agent 13 is a great combo!
