Iron Butterfly

Float Like a Butterfly and sting like Mark III

Iron Butterfly is all about keeping the villain Confused and taking full advantage of Tony Stark’s multiple attack options to exploit Float Like a Butterfly for free damage. The deck uses Sonic Rifle, Tony's allies, and Upside the Head to establish and maintain Confused status while Tony builds the suit. Sonic Rifle is especially strong here, giving Tony a way to quickly reach his maximum hand size in Hero form while repeatedly Confusing the villain or minions and getting a free 3 damage against already-Confused targets.

Once Iron Man's core upgrades are online, the deck really starts to take off. With 9 different ways to Confuse his enemies, Tony has plenty of opportunities to trigger Float Like a Butterfly's bonus damage across his various attack effects. When both Powered Gauntlets and Arc Reactor are in play, Iron Man can deal an additional 4 free damage per turn even before he unleashes a Repulsor Blast or his allies take a swing. Upside the Head provides additional Confuse options early and eventually gives Tony a reliable way to Stun later in the game, allowing him to stay in Hero form while locking down the villain.

The deck also leans heavily into its resource requirements, with 17 Energy resources to fuel big Repulsor Blasts and 15 Mental resources to keep Tony Aerial. And yes, there’s something deeply satisfying about going Aerial and tapping both Powered Gauntlets for 6 free damage every turn. The overall strategy is to establish his upgrades, control the board state by inflicting statuses and using empowered attacks, and then burst the villain down with a big 20+ damage turn.

"Yeah... I can (butter)fly."
