Instead of the typical Captain America stunlock solo deck, this is a deck designed to be played for 2-3 players. The idea behind protection in multiplayer is to keep everyone in hero form for longer. Less alter-ego turns -> less scheming -> threat prevented!

If you are blocking for teammates and stunning the villain, then they stay in hero form longer and their allies last longer, which should hopefully help alleviate side schemes and whatnot. If you have Captain America's Shield and Electrostatic Armor, every attack you defend against will be 2 damage, which is usually the equivalent of your basic attack. Plus, if extra help is needed for thwarting, Captain America can use his ability to ready and get that extra layer of oomph.

The strategy behind this deck is to set up all your upgrades, and then use Muster Courage and Heroic Strike to hand out tough/stun. On the villain turn, you can, for example, use a Shield Block to absorb your own hit (if you're not already tough), then defend for another player. Between Desperate Defense and Never Back Down you can potentially absorb 2-3 attacks per round. Indomitable is there in case you need to defend multiple times and you don't draw a Desperate Defense.

You might be wondering, "Why not Ironheart/Nick Fury/Quincarrier/Etc?" This is because many cards are unique and thus to not compete with your teammates as they are popular picks for other decks. Mockingbird still makes the cut because she can eat two villain activations. Clea, while technically worse than Ironheart, can provide chump blocks frequently if she's seen early. Iron Fist needs no explanation, and Brother Voodoo can fish for Events like Muster Courage, Heroic Strike, and Shield Toss when you get your Super-Soldier Serum, Helicarrier, and Avengers Mansion down and are flush with resources. Otherwise he's 2 effective resources for an ally, and you can always pitch the card you pull from him to ready up with Cap's ability.

Additionally, I like Multiple Man a lot, but you have so many upgrades you want to throw down that the competition between him and upgrades is fierce, so he doesn't make the cut, either.

Alternatives to consider would be to replace the Muster Courage with Med Team so that you can heal up your teammates' allies.
