Not long ago I proposed a deck with a similar idea, the use of Chance Encounter to grab your MVP and play your ally over and over again. I refined the list quite a bit and took it against Galaxy's most wanted campaign in expert mode, true solo.

I hadn't played the campaign in a loooong while, so I wasn't sure what to expect. Well, Cap took all the villains down easily, Ronan included, but minus "kree supremacy" (cleared every other scenario with the expert "challenge" side scheme but felt like kree supremacy... well there's a reason it was made optional in RRG 1.4, right?)

So, here's the deal if you haven't tried Chance Encounter decks yet.

Key combo: One Way or Another + Chance Encounter. Thwart the side scheme (Cap can thwart twice thx to "I can do this all day" and boost his THW with Fearless Determination or Heroic Intuition). Draw extra from Skilled Investigator if you can.

Then, of course, get Nick Fury. Play him to draw 3 more cards, build your board. Nick thwarts/attacks, blocks for you. And you start over.

And the other turns?

In between moments where you can pull this off, stun the villain with Mockingbird or Heroic Strike. Confusing him with Sonic Rifle is simply amazing as CAP: you get an extra card with Steve's Apartment and get to play allies for a discount (like that Nick Fury you just got from Chance Encounter and that you lack just one card to play, or Mockingbird with just The Power in All of Us... feels great!).

Surviving the villain's attack is usually quite easy, Shield Block whenever you can (I sometimes even hold on to it for the next turn when the villain won't be stunned). Worst case, with Captain America's Shield in play, you can also block, and still not lose your entire next turn by readying with "I can do this all day".

GMW campaign

The most challenging scenario was actually the Collector 1, because if you start using Chance Encounter and Nick Fury, you'll fill the collection in no time! You have to be extra careful here and try dealing damage quickly (Heroic Strike, attacking twice, burst from Spider-Man or Nick Fury).

One thing that's fun, though: the "galaxy artifacts" modular set comes with 4 side schemes giving you various bonuses... a real blessing to keep One Way or Another full of meaningful targets that actually give you even more for your money! AND these follow you up to the Nebula scenario...

I was very surprised with the Ronan scenario. I associated Ronan with "borderline impossible" from previous experience... but this deck destroyed expert Ronan. Must be the effect of not playing the original setup with kree supremacy, or crazy good luck!

Last thing: I bought, from the market, Targeting Screen and Grand Strategy. I just realized I played Targeting Screen wrong: I always used it for "thwart 2"... even when it should have been 3.

So there you go! Hope you like it as much as I did!
