Hi welcome to the eight in a series of decks I plan to build directly influenced by the amazing Get Up and Game! Perfect Match-Up series found here: https://youtu.be/1I2q3sT6FoA Please check out the channel and the video since I thought it was an amazing gift to the community and it inspired me to start playing Champions more regularly.

My goal with this series is to create a unique deck inspired by each challenge match-up in the video using all the suggested cards plus some of my own to create a deck that any player can use to check out the challenge. If you’re missing some cards from a deck please ask in the comments and I’ll do my best to find replacements from your collection so that you can have fun too! Hopefully I can build a deck that can beat the villain on both standard and expert. I’ll try to document any tweaks I made while playing the deck too.

For the eighth matchup we have Valkyrie against Master Mold. I had yet to play this hero or scenario prior to the day I made this deck. I first tested the deck against Klaw for a while and made a couple changes while I got used to the rhythm of Valkyrie. When I finally went up against Master Mold, I won easily on my Standard play and both my Expert plays. It really clicked and while I dont think Valkyrie is ready to take on every villain yet, I think she could become a great hero if cards continue to come out in support of the engaged with minions archetype.

The core of the deck is simple. Find and destroy small minions to buff yourself up and then use this to your advantage to lay down huge turns. The most important cards in the deck are Chooser of the Slain and Hall of Heroes so try and get these in hand as soon as possible. The key here is that Chooser of the Slain puts enemies into play and can recur them from the discard pile so we do not activate their when revealed effects. We can find the easy to kill 2/3 cost sentinels and then use "Bring It!" to draw a handful of cards. I had a turn where I drew 11 additional cards on top of the 6 I started with and then went to town on my foes.

Magneto is going to be a huge help in maintaining a healthy board state as he can dispatch any sentinels you don't want around. War Room and Chase Them Down can help remove threat when needed. You also want to get at least Valkyrie's Spear or Dragonfang down so that you have a target for Mean Swing and Fusillade. Use your Piercing Strike to instantly take down Sentinel Mark III with tough. I tend not to waste resources on Death-Glow but if you have an extra, you can pair it with Have at Thee! to put in some damage on the villain. It also helps if you have too many minions as you can attach to a minion, attack with Valkyrie, which will defeat the minion and ready Valkyrie allowing you to repeat this till you run out of resources. All this minion swatting will power your Hall of Heroes to gain even more cards for future turns.

You also have a group of allies you can use to back you up. You start with a sentinel in play so Throg is all but guaranteed to arrive with tough. Thor and Thor will also help you deal with minions. Angela is especially valuable in helping you pull out weaker minions without activating their when revealed effects and Bug can sit happy with an Energy Spear the whole game under the right circumstances. Don't be afraid to leave a minion or two around if it means you can pull a 4-5 card draw with "Bring It!" the following turn. Timing is important here too since you can only play one per phase so make sure you play Angela and Chooser of the Slain first. I almost always use Visit Valhalla to recur Chooser of the Slain as well. Annabelle Riggs also helps finding your important Valkyrie cards.

All in all I had a fantastic time with this match up and encourage you to try it out! I'll definitely be building another Valkyrie deck in the near future.

Hi, I've been testing you decks in this series and this the first one I couldn't handle expert. Threats are a major problem, when Master Mold schemes, there is no boost card, but the sentinel he spawns gets to scheme as well and that needs to be taken care of.

@meyjoh thanks for checking them out! This is definitely a burst combo deck. Master Mold has very little HP so you just want to beat him down as quickly as possible. Magneto can help thwart but to be honest with you I do very little thwarting in this fight. Chase them down is there if you really get pinned down but most of the time the goal is to take down Master Mold in a few turns. It’s been a few weeks since I played this deck but I’ll take it for another spin and see if I can give you some more tips on how I’m beating it.
