Deck Description

This deck is meant to draw cards. And slay.

Shuri has a lot of card draw baked into her kit with The Elephant's Trunk which, when combined with Dora Milaje and Queen Ramonda, can draw 3 cards when you flip down to alter-ego.

While in alter-ego, you can also use Queen Ramonda for healing if you find yourself taking damage. Ready for a Fight can get us back to hero form to defend before a scheme activation, and Change of Fortune draws more cards during the villain phase.

Classic Marvel Champions stalwart Nick Fury is here to draw even more cards, and because Shuri is a Genius, Moon Girl and Ingenuity are in the deck to power us up further. Spider-Byte is here because with your Black Panther upgrades in play, you will have two Tech cards, so she costs only one to provide a little boost of thwart for the table, which is more valuable in lower player counts. Brother Voodoo will help search for a card when he enters play.

Yas, Queen.

We do need lots of ways to trigger basic actions and keep readying. To that end, we have wave one classic Desperate Defense, alongside new hotness "I Can Do This All Day". "Come Get Me, Bub!" gives us healing, toughness, a minion to kill, and combos well with Anticipation to give us more readies. Indomitable is here as a failsafe, in the event you can't ready after defending.

Speaking of defending, Armored Vest and Electrostatic Armor boost us when we defend, but the real draw to Shuri is her Panther Claws, which means we can do 2 damage to an enemy of our choice when we defend. Often, this means we defend the villain, and redirect some damage to a minion (which might kill the minion and trigger Change of Fortune before that minion has a chance to attack.

The final step to this death-by-defense is Excelsior. Defending can now to two instances of 2 damage when you basic defend, which can kill even the most robust minions. In order to hit the requirement for , we have Enhanced Reflexes, which doubles as a resource sink for Shuri when drawing lots of cards. How about that!

You could certainly activate other signature upgrades when you defend! If you need thwart, use Kimoyo Beads. If you need to spread some damage around, try Spider Bites. Vibranium Suit can give you a little healing when you need that. Don't be afraid to discard the Black Panther upgrades for their special ability; you can just shuffle them in with Aja-Adanna and then immediately put them back into play when you go to AE. (Remember, Aja-Adanna is just an "action", and not tied to Hero/Alter-Ego form.)
