Originally, I wasn’t a big fan of Echo in Marvel Champions. The main reason was that she doesn’t have any personal Event cards that deal damage or remove threat, which made her gameplay feel too dependent on Aspect Events or on having other players around in multiplayer.
That changed one day when I decided to build a deck using some leftover Justice cards I had. I wanted to create a Yellow deck that could do a little bit of everything, with both Attack and Thwart Events, allowing Echo to function effectively in both Solo and Multiplayer. This is one of my favorite ways to build a deck: having enough tools to handle different situations without relying too heavily on the rest of the team.
You may notice that this list includes several 3-cost Events. That’s because Echo can play those Events quite efficiently. They also work surprisingly well with Echo's Katana. The Rez gives Echo a lot of healing, while Improvisation provides another great way to survive and get more value out of her kit.
Let's take a look at some of the Events in this deck.
First up is Concussive Blow. This is a high-cost Status card that deals 3 damage, but with Echo's Katana in play, it can deal another 3 damage. That’s enough to comfortably take care of a Minion or Confuse the Villain, which is especially useful against the villains from the Fear No Evil box.
Stealth Strike is another Justice damage Event. It allows you to deal damage while also giving you an opportunity to remove Threat at the same time. It fits perfectly into the flexible playstyle I wanted for this deck.
For Justice!, Know Your Enemy, and Infiltration are the main Thwart Events in this list. Besides dealing with Threat, they also help make it easier to trigger the Stun effect from Stealth Training.
See No Evil, Hear No Evil is probably the most frequently used Event in the deck. As long as Daredevil is on the board, this card can be used surprisingly often—sometimes even 1–3 times in a single round.
Ps. You can change 1 Infiltration to 1 One Way or Another
Then we have Face the Past, which is an important part of the deck's combo with Show of Empathy. Together, they can turn the mighty Kingpin into a very supportive Daddy who comes to help his daughter fight the villains.
I’m sure many of you already know this combo, but it’s still one of my favorite things to do with Echo.
As always, if you like the look of this deck, feel free to give it a try yourself. I hope you have fun playing it!
