In the sage words of Philip J. Fry:
All year long, the grasshopper kept burying acorns for the winter, while the octopus mooched off his girlfriend and watched TV. But then the winter came, and the grasshopper died, and the octopus ate all his acorns. And also he got a race car. Is any of this getting through to you?
...That doesn't sound right. Anyway, I threw in seven readies to make this ant the hardest working guy in showbiz, a worthy representative of Aesop's fabulous acclaim.
And then I decided that the original vision in Aggression featuring Bug wasn't worth the electrons it was printed on, and that it'd work much better in blue with a bunch of avengers and Moxie. Which is annoying [tik], as the name doesn't fit as well any more. Please re-use it if you come up with a build that is legitimately centered around the handsomest of the Guardians.
Another road not taken was to swap out Moxie for "You Got This!", which is a fun way to stack another untap with Earth's Mightiest Heroes. I ultimately decided against it as (a) it meant taking three more cards that were dependent on having allies on the board, which I'm generally not enthusiastic about, (b) 1-cost is twice as much as 0-cost, and (c) unlike Moxie, YGT doesn't buff your Def, which is legitimately nice when stacked with Giant-form's base 3 and a clutch untap from Ready to Rumble.
The inattentive and brainless layman might suggest that going green for What Doesn't Kill Me solves all problems, but I'm very unenthusiastic about the Protection Avengers selection (which is limited to Vision's robot buddies and Brother Voodoo) and I'm not gonna give up Earth's Mightiest Heroes.
The ally base I did choose is obviously meant to keep the cost curve nice and low, and draw some cards in the process. Blade, Stinger and Ant-Man are nice budget EMH turrets. Once you've got Mighty Avengers in play, all these cheap dorks become very efficient thwarters.
You will need to basic-defend more often than you'd like, unless the villain is a complete wimp. Ant-Man's Helmet healing only takes you so far.
I like this! It looks pretty solid and is very thematic to keep that giant Ant activating (Antivating?) Clarity of Purpose helps you hit those Wrist Gauntlet triggers and you are free to use most of your allies and put them to work versus keeping them around for the usual suspects that is Strength In Numbers. I'm wondering if a single copy of Avengers Assemble! would squeeze a little more work out of this ant? I like it as-is though too, because there are so many resource generators/builders that you should be able to play most of what you're drawing which is really nice for those longer games.
