Spittin' Fury into the Face of Danger
In this deck, we spit Fury (Nick Fury and Nick Fury, Sr., that is) into the face of danger with Make the Call and Suit Up, as well as into the face of Trevor Fitzroy (Bishop's nemesis minion) with Face the Past.
While danger abounds for our hero and his allies, the deck also utilizes Danger Room to upgrade X-Men allies with Danger Room Training, which is often facilitated by Suit Up and Bishop's Alter-Ego ability, Temporarily Displaced.
BardicMonk requested this deck to play it on his channel. You can check out his content here: https://www.youtube.com/@BardicMonk . Below are the stipulations regarding limits on packs to build from so that players who may have begun Marvel Champions at the X-Men expansion release might build this deck:
The Core Box and anything on or after Mutant Genesis.
Request for Bishop's deck (semi-paraphrased): Draw plenty of cards, where Bishop pretty much can pay for anything and has options every turn when playing solo, possibly deleting Villains in single turns (as in BIG turns, not “turn 1 wins”).*
If you'd like to see a discussion of this deck, see the following video: Bishop Deck Discussion | Leadership | Spittin' Fury into the Face of Danger
VILLAINS TESTED AGAINST to refine the deck (in both standard and expert): Klaw; Unus; Red Skull, Magneto.
Deck Refinements through playtesting: I Removed Hope Summers, whom I thought might be a good addition as a Temporal Card (and then grab a Superpower card to hand when played), but I generally prioritized other allies instead. I also removed Beast and Superpower Training and then added Danger Room and an extra copy of Danger Room Training.
PLAY TIPS:
-
Only play Inspired on Nick Fury, Nick Fury, Sr., or Professor X so that it's always available for Suit Up the next turn. Nick Fury is the engine that drives the deck, while Professor X applies the brakes to prevent villain scheming, often being played in the same turn.
-
If you already have 3 allies in play, feel free to discard one of the aforementioned allies in order to play the new ally. Often, 2 or 3 of allies can be played in one turn.
-
Domino's ability can be used to replace a resource card with possibly a playable card.
-
Getting either Avengers Mansion or The X-Jet into play is enough. One can generally start attacking as soon as Bishop's Uniform is in play, and especially if Bishop's Rifle is also in play and any time minions and schemes have been cleared.
-
Either Randall or Malcolm can become a Sidekick and typically shouldn't need to be used to defend the hero, though it's not necessary for this deck to use a Sidekick. They are also great targets for Danger Room, though even Professor X can be a great temporary target to boost him to a THW of 4 or give him an ATK of 1 to plink off an enemy tough status.
-
Bishop's Alter-Ego ability, Temporally Displaced, not only facilitates playing Suit Up or one of his identity-specific allies, it can also be used to recover Bishop's Uniform or Bishop's Rifle if it has been discarded by his Energy Absorption hero ability.
-
There are times you'll want to forego defending with one of the Furys or Professor X, especially when you have Energy Conversion in hand to restock your deck with resource cards.
-
A natural choice for Specialized Training is Front Line Specialist since Bishop often wants to take attacks, allowing him to gain more survivability with the +4 HP and also draw a card after being attacked.
Conclusion: Though limited to the Core Set and expansions beginning with the X-men, this deck does not feel limited in any way. The Nick Furys provide plenty of draw power, while Bishop's own hero ability supplies plenty of resources to facilitate playing Nick Fury or Professor X whenever needed. Bishop is also one of the easiest heroes to play Suit Up with because of the many resource cards, as well as his Alter-Ego ability that allows him to grab a card from his discard pile as a resource or to recover his hero upgrades.
This is a great deck for managing the minions and schemes and launching into a huge attack to finish the villain in the final turn, with those ranging from 22 to 31 points in my playtests.

Great write up! Very clear and detailed. I have to say, bishop has dropped a lot for me, so I’m not sure I’ll play this…but I appreciate the effort all the same. And good video too!
