W.A.L.L.: Web-Warriors and Living Legends
Get ready to build an unshakeable defense with W.A.L.L.: Web-Warriors and Living Legends! This Silk deck isn't your typical Web-Warrior strategy focused on Web of Life and Destiny card draw. Instead, we're using Web of Life and Destiny primarily to facilitate playing Across the Spider-Verse. Our real strength lies in temporary early burst card draw, letting us construct a nearly impenetrable W.A.L.L. that completely shuts down the villain's schemes. Once our defenses are in place, Silk unleashes her decisive Swinging Silk Kicks, often prepped by Spider-UK's defense, to deliver the knockout blow.

VILLAINS TESTED AGAINST to refine the deck (in both standard and expert): Klaw (with an expert house rule(1)); Unus; En Sabah Nur (Apocalypse); and Magneto.
Deck Refinements
- Removal(s):
- All 3 copies of Taunt; I found myself only using this at the beginning of the game to help set up the kit, and even then I often chose to play other cards.
- Superpower Training & Build Support: Normally, I find these cards highly beneficial in most decks, but I found myself always prioritizing the villain schemes over these, so I hardly used these at all in 6 games.
- Addition(s):
- Investigative Journalism: Prior to having Spider-Man (Peter Parker) in play to meet this card's requirement, it is available as a wild resource, thereby flexibly providing either a tech resource for Moon Girl or a physical resource to play Ready for a Fight.
- Deadpool: The Deadpool ally is mostly in the deck to serve as a wild resource, should either Moon Girl or Ready for a Fight need it; however, in the early game, he can be played and effectively contribute damage and thwarting and act as a defender when he's no longer needed.
- Render Medical Aid: This player side scheme is easy to play, can help keep the core allies in play when needed, and allows Silk to avoid having to defend or heal. It also contributes an additional mental resource for Moon Girl until it's played and thins the deck once it is.
NOTABLE ELEMENTS OF PLAY:
- Card Draw Elements: The goal is to utilize the numerous card draw opportunities in order to set up "the kit," which will be described in the next section.
- Nick Fury
- Moon Girl
- Nick Fury, Sr.
- Face the Past
- Albert Moon (indirect card draw: sets up Cindy Moon's alter-ego action that draws 2 cards)
- Unflappable
- Web of Life and Destiny (to some extent)
- The Kit: The kit is made up of allies, supports, upgrades. Note that not all parts of the kit need to be set up prior to going for victory. One will hit a point where enough elements are in play to begin attacking the villain with alacrity.
- Allies: Spider-UK; Spider-Man (Peter Parker); Scarlet Spider. Once the allies are in play, Spider-UK should be able to handle most any minion, or even 2 once Hangar Bay is play.
- Supports: Albert Moon; J. Jonah Jameson; Web of Life and Destiny; Hangar Bay
- Upgrades: Organic Webbing; Spider Claws; Spider Reflexes (Note that the latter card can help make up for Spider-UK eliminating many, if not all, of the minions during the villain turn, thereby denying Silk use of her Silk Sense ability.
-
Ready for a Fight: Unlike many decks that are meant to regularly trigger this card, this deck uses Ready for a Fight as insurance for when there is a risk of the villain completing the main scheme. For the most part one would prefer to begin one's turn in alter-ego.
Conclusion:
Refined against the likes of Klaw, Unus, Apocalypse, and Magneto, W.A.L.L. - Web-Warriors and Living Legends delivers on its promise of an unyielding defense. We've streamlined the deck by removing situational cards like Taunt and Superpower Training, opting instead for the consistent utility of Investigative Journalism and Deadpool, ensuring every resource counts. The rapid assembly of 'the kit' – driven by the potent card draw from Nick Fury, Moon Girl, and even the subtle influence of Albert Moon – quickly establishes our defensive core. With Spider-UK handling threats and Spider Reflexes bolstering our defense, the villain will find no cracks in the W.A.L.L.. This deck empowers Silk to control the battlefield, dictate the pace, and ultimately, deliver precise, game-ending blows after the villain's plans have been thoroughly dismantled. Prepare to build your own W.A.L.L. and witness the villain's schemes crumble!
(1) Note on expert house rule for Klaw: This modification assures that expert Klaw makes for a consistently challenging villain during playtesting. After discarding cards at the beginning of the game and putting into play the first minion that is discarded from the encounter deck, if that minion is NOT a Masters of Evil minion, I search the encounter deck for a Masters of Evil minion and replace the original discarded minion with it. I then shuffle that original minion back into the deck.
