Here's a fun deck I've been playing in some two-player games, lately. Get Rocket Raccoon, Drax, and Bug on the board; load 'em up with weapons; and watch the villain's health melt. Firepower gives you a way to use your built-up board without losing precious ally HP or you can play it alongside your ally attacks for some VERY high damage.
Game Ending Damage
With a fully built out table, you're looking at the following numbers:
-
Drax swinging for 7 dmg at the villain (with range and piercing)
-
Rocket swinging at a minion for 8 dmg, with (range, piecing, AND overkill)
-
Bug swinging for 5 dmg (with range and piercing) effectively for no consequential damage as long as he starts at 2 HP
-
C.I.T.T. doubling whichever of those allies you want
-
6 weapons to trigger Firepower, meaning you can "fully" Firepower twice in one turn
You will very rarely need all of this damage to defeat the villain, but this deck gives you multiple ways to build up to enough damage to close out the game. That said, big numbers are fun, and I've had lucky turns where I drew Firepower alongside Lethal Intent and Weapons Master to hit for over 50 damage.
Arming Your Allies
Build Support and Lock and Load just make this deck a lot smoother. They, respectively, have 6 and 4 threat in 2p, which is very doable. I've also found a single copy of Gatekeeper to be useful in helping my team mate keep threat down. Between the two of us, there's usually some minion on the board and your beefed up allies aren't going to have any problem dealing with the extra hp. Keeping the main scheme's threat low builds space to safely thwart down the PSS, accelerating this deck's game-ending damage.
I hope you give this deck a try! I usually enjoy Nebula's more methodical playstyle, but it's been refreshing to get her board set up and just clear out the table by your second deck pass. Enjoy!
