Phoenix uses her powerful Psionic abilities to fight alongside her fellow X-Men.

Originally created for solo fighting Expert Magneto. There's no Professor X hero currently, but this comes pretty close to what that hero might look like with all the Psionic and X-Men synergy. Phoenix's base 3 THW is perfect for clearing the mandatory scenario side schemes. If you manage to get Professor X on turn 1, you can even clear all 3 with his ready ability. It's also great for instantly clearing Build Support and Superpower Training

All of the confuse-inducing cards (Professor X, Psylocke, Psychic Assault) help you flip down to alter-ego to heal and get a power counter and use alter-ego actions.

Cerebro can pull out whatever X-Men ally is needed from your deck (usually Professor X and Psylocke) and X-Men Instruction to put them back in your deck from the discard pile, so you can grab them with Cerebro or draw them again later. Utopia will get you readies when you play these allies.

Team-Building Exercise works well with the plethora of Psionic and X-Men cards in this deck and you will likely use both copies most turns.

Forge helps you get the X-supports.

Sunfire gets rid of attachments. Can be replaced if the villain doesn't have strong removable attachments like Magneto.

Wolverine provides reliable damage and piercing and should be kept around as long as possible with his healing ability and X-Mansion

Triage provides heals to you or Wolverine.

Stepford Cuckoos is primarily the Shadow of the Past blocker to prevent Dark Phoenix from showing up

Down Time boosts your REC as you will mostly recover instead of defend.

The max 50-card deck size helps you keep a larger discard pile so X-Men Instruction usually has targets, you deck out slower and get the extra encounter card less often, and none of Phoenix's identity-specific cards are super high priority to play early on anyway.

The general strategy is to stay Restrained and use Phoenix's strong THW and confuses and occasional attack events to manage board state while you set up supports/upgrades on your 1st deck pass. You will generally never want to use your basic defense if you can help it. Better to save readies to thwart or recover and get a power counter.

Once you feel set up enough, you can become Unleashed and rush down the villain with your 3-6 ATK (depending of the combo of Combat Specialist, Combat Training, Aggressive Conditioning in play). Professor X and Utopia can help you ready to use your strong basic attacks and your identity-specific events are stronger too.
