Righteous Shield

This is an update for my Version 1 deck after more playtesting.

The deck uses Righteous Purpose and Mighty Avengers to pump up your allies, and Energy Shield to keep them in the game at 1HP.

Finesse will pay the for Energy Shield. For anyone reading this who doesn't know why that's so, it's because the wording is such that Finesse "generate[s] a for an aspect card" NOT "generate a to pay for an aspect card".

If one isn't available though (not in play or already exhausted) the deck has plenty of icons for use with Energy Shield

Put an Energy Shield on any ally, but keeping Captain Marvel alive is good anyway because you'll get extra card draw from her, and Ronin gets +1/+1 just by attaching Energy Shield to him.

Iron Lad is a spicy one, because if he's attacking for 4 (1 + 2 from Righteous Purpose, +1 from Mighty Avengers) and exhausts another ally (who's also at +3 ATK) to add to his ATK, he's attacking for 9 and he's the only one who'll take consequential damage.

Get them down to 1HP and let the cook, then prevent their last Consequential Damage with Energy Shield!

Avengers Tower increases you ally limit and lets you play your allies cheaper, and Honorary Avenger lets you flip down and still have the AVENGER trait so that Mighty Avengers is "always on".

Player Side Schemes

Build Support is here for Righteous Purpose, but if that's already in play use it to tutor Mighty Avengers.

The priority pull for Call for Backup and Evaluate Threat is Captain Marvel, but they can be used with any ally, especially if you have an Energy Shield in hand for them.

Leading Blow

With a fairly inexpensive deck and plenty of card draw you can often play 2 or 3 Aspect cards per turn, making Leading Blow pretty effective. Attack for 3 or 4 (or whatever) minus the boost card discarded and you should still deal damage and get the ready to attack again at "full force".

That said, I played several games where I only used it for it's resource and didn't play it.

Get Ready

This deck used Get Ready for a while, but Sky Cycle is actually better here for two reasons:

  • All of your allies have the AVENGER trait, so you can attach it to any of them and not waste a card later for the ready
  • It has an resource which you can use with Energy Shield, whereas Get Ready has a resource.

With that said though, Brother Voodoo searches the top five of your deck for an event, and he whiffs every once in a while because of the low event count. If you wanted to swap Get Ready back in for Sky Cycle he'll whiff a little less often.

Playtesting

I've tested this deck in solo and multiplayer and it absolutely slays because your allies do SO much work for you, Attacking or Thwarting for 5 (or 10 with a ready). This deck can fill the role of "Attacker" or "Thwarter".

One solo, Standard game against Klaw went REALLY long and at one point I had five minions, two of whom were The Viper and Radioactive Man which really chewed up my hand. I got as low as 2 HP but I got back to full health y then end of the game and pulled out the victory!
