I've been trying to figure out the best way to max out Protection's new star, Leading Blow. It seems to me that Spider Woman is the best hero to do that. I'm not the only one to have done so, still I was surprised that there weren't many decks featuring aggro-protection out there; here's my take on it.
This deck feels like a collection of pretty cool synergies that are only available to Spider Woman because of her "Double Agent" feature.
Leading Blow
The new protection MVP really shines when you can make it work properly. Several synergies here allow that:
Skilled Strike + Leading Blow = an attack of 5, making sure that you will ready.
Combat Training + Leading Blow + any other aspect card works too.
Hand Cannon + Leading Blow works too.
Hitting the villain for up to 8 (skilled strike, leading blow, hand cannon + combat training) and then readying for another attack is very possible.
Gravy on top
Use Deft Focus to play Self-Propelled Glide for free for yet another attack.
Block and use Counter-Punch during the villain phase for yet another solid hit.
Maxing out Hard Knocks
I've also been wanting to max out Hard Knocks, which is fun, but without a minion to kill, however, is not always so reliable. Well, with Spider Woman, you can throw in those nice minion-finders from aggro: Looking for Trouble and Angela.
If more minions scare you, don't forget you've got Hand Cannon and access to overkill if Hard Knocks isn't in your hands.
Other allies
Bug really shines when your hero attacks often, and that's exactly what's going on here so, he can be a perpetual 1 thw / 1 atk.
Starhawk is also a hero with exceptionnal recursion if you play him well, he may just give you a hand all game long!
Last, I needed one more basic card, Ironheart for the cheap draw and block.
Deft focus
Count how many superpowers you've got as Spider-Woman: Contaminant Immunity, Pheromones, Venom Blast and Self-Propelled Glide... Deft Focus is going to repay itself many many times, trust me!
