I've been re-visiting older heroes while we all wait for the Vision to come our way, I hadn't played Captain Marvel since GMW. Wow is she amazing! Don't look for crazy new combos here, it's more of a mash-up of some common ideas, but I've had a lot of fun with this deck, and I must say, so far it feels pretty solid, so I wanted to share. Here's a few lines about the build.

Deck build

The deck was built with a few key idea in mind:

Grey deck

+

Supports (carriers, Avengers Mansion)

+

Draw (Clear the Area, One Way or Another, Photonic Blast, Nick Fury, Ironheart, Alpha Flight Station, "Commander", "Rechannel"...)

+

Confuse (Sonic Rifle, Spider-Woman)

Resources

This is where the deck started: I wanted to try a "grey" deck with Capt Marvel. Thing is, I usually throw in Genius, Strength and Energy and consider it's enough given Energy Absorption. I decided to include The Power in All of Us and, eventually, Determination. The Power in All of Us is just too good and pays for huge assets (Avengers Mansion, Quincarrier, Helicarrier, Nick Fury...), and it leaves Energy Absorption open to fill Energy Channel or pay for Photonic Blast. Determination is really nice, a if you want to fill Energy Channel, and combos nicely with Clear the Area to clear most side schemes.

Isn't that TOO MUCH? Well, I'm either very lucky or too bad at math to figure it out, but so far I haven't had turns where I'm stuck with just resources. Once, I had both Energy Absorption, Energy and Genius in my hand (out of 5 cards). But I drew with Avengers Mansion, used Quincarrier to "Rechannel", played Photonic Blast with the draw, and ended up playing Mockingbird and then Lockjaw form the discard.

Utilities

Because it was a True solo endeavor, I've included some cards that really shine and smooth things out: Under Surveillance, Heroic Intuition, Sonic Rifle.

In between the 2 rifles and Spider-Woman, I usually have AE turns with a confused villain. Very cool, don't forget AE turns means you get to use "Commander" and Alpha Flight Station and start your turn with 8 cards in hand, presumably lots of resources to play the big guns or fill Energy Channel to the brim.

Sense of Justice doesn't have lots of targets here, but I just like to pay Clear the Area for free and get the card, plus it thins out your deck. Endurance is ... well, almost an auto-include.

One Way or Another is downright amazing because it plays right into your strenghts. Knowing the game and what's in your encounter deck gives you a crazy advantage here, don't just use it blindly.

Results

As I said in a post last week, I usually like to share decks that I've had FUN with, and I don't pay much attention to win ratios or do the math to compare this card to this one... I know, however, that some players are eager for decks that perform.

So far, I can say that it performs very well, and has beaten EXPERT scenarios with ease (RHINO, KLAW, ULTRON, GOBLINS, THE HOOD). I intend to take it against campaigns and will adjust the post when I do, but I can already suppose that COLLECTOR and RONAN will pose problem (especially if I try the original Ronan with the challenge, Kree Supremacy), and probably THANOS (stalwart).
