Change of Fortune likes minions. Valkyrie likes minions. Valkyrie is usually seen in aggression, wrecking fools with Dragonfang, leaving Valkyrie's Spear as the lame duck of her upgrades. Well, with this build, you defend against minions with Death-Glow for 5 with the spear and Armored Vest, taking no damage and triggering Electrostatic Armor, Unflappable, Riposte, Counter-Punch (for 4 damage if you have Dragonfang out), Under Control, or Hard to Ignore for some threat removal that Valkyrie needs. Then draw two cards with Change of Fortune.
Heal up with "Come Get Me, Bub!" while setting up your next target, or use Godlike Stamina or Angel's Aerie to keep yourself healthy and clear of stuns.
Yes, this build is slow to set up and it lacks big hits on the villain, but in multi-player it can be a lot of fun.

May 04, 2025So played this in two attempts against Drang. I don't really feel like this was the weak point of the four players. It is a little unusual because the playstyles will counterintuitive to what you would normally do with Valkyrie, but she was doing a great deal of minion management and definitely got a use out of all of the change of Fortune archetype cards. The table did definitely feel the absence of night nurse. But it was really cool to prioritize mulliganine for defense upgrades. |
Brining this to Con of Heroes 2025, gotta try this out.
