"Your Honor, Grant Ward is not the most reputable man. He may not even be what one would consider a "good" man. However, he has the potential to do great things, and his years of service reflect someone who is able to make a positive impact in the world. If you grant him probation, I vow to directly supervise his rehabilitation and community service."
"Uh...what? Actually, I think I'll take time in the Raft."
"You never cease to surprise me, Ms. Walters. Probation granted."
"...$@%^"

Grant Ward and "You Got This!" is such a fun combo, and its also easy to set up. Suit Up Grant Ward for his court date on turn one, netting you an ally and getting Clarity of Purpose on She-Hulk, which is an amazing upgrade for her. The second CoP is just to recur with Suit Ups. With this combo, I've been able to have a T1 with 14 damage. Clarity of Purpose does one more great thing in that it ensures that you have the necessary to keep Grant on your side.
Grant Ward from there becomes a great baseball bat to use. He can also redeem himself by making a Noble Sacrifice, but that's not nearly as fun. Noble is great, however, to give breathing room to use your health as a resource. Blade is in the deck to something similar, and if you're starting in AE, Lockjaw is always such a good boy that you can pay for him from discard and still "You Got This!" or Noble Sacrifice.
Black Panther is too good to not include in this deck since he lets you do effectively whatever part of the combo you like, or, can just also grab Grant alongside him by snagging Make the Call. Kaluu per usual is a great ally in event decks to snag one of the pieces.
My favorite opening is when you get both Grant Ward and a Suit Up in hand. You keep Grant in hand, but instead, pull Lockjaw out of the deck and get the good boy in his home in the discard pile early.
She-Hulk's proclivity to flip down and do legal work allows her to Suit Up more often, setting up the flip up to hero turns and ensuring she can pop off. Depending on your current hand size you can possibly start looping Hellcat, or if you're low on cards you can grab one of the cheap allies. Flipping down with Grant on the board is slightly riskier with CoP being a hero action, but Quincarrier can also cover in a pinch.
My current high score with this deck is 34. There's room to get higher than that (especially against stalwart villains) so let me know what you're able to get to!

Mar 28, 2025I think it'll be nice to add in Strength in Diversity once that releases. |
Mar 28, 2025Thanks That will be another nice card |
Mar 28, 2025Turning against Grant before he turns against you is so funny! Really clever and cool deck - I will definitely give it a go. |
Mar 29, 2025While I am lacking a few of the cards from this deck, Grant Ward, “You Got This”, Make the Call, and Noble Sacrifice are all in my collection. I’m definitely using this as inspiration, and my brain is already adding Maria Hill and Ironheart for card draw…I wonder what else I might use? |
