Swatting Away the Riff-Raff
I've really not played Ms. Marvel all that often but I appreciate that many many players rate her highly as far as evenly being their all-time favourite.
This is my attempt at building her an Aggression Deck- at first I wanted to see if I could utilise any of the newer cards (at the time of this deck build, Wave 9 series have come out). What is found was that I kept coming back to the older cards, and settled on that.
Ms. Marvel is heaps of fun with the emphasis on using cheap events to recur into your hand with Morphogenetics and play again. I've steered away from giving Kamala a weapon (to play newer cards like Firepower as I like to try and make thematic decks....so here's my version of a red Ms. Marvel!
My Smart Friends
I've stacked the deck with as many solid thwarting allies to assist Kamala in her match up with the villain. As far as synergy goes there's not much to the allies other than their inherent abilities. Ironheart and Moon Girl can give even more card draw for Ms. Marvel; Spider-Man can give a burst of thwart or attack; Vivian can thwart and nullify an attachment. With Team-Building Exercise out, these allies all should be relatively cheap to put in (same as Red Dagger).
The two non-Champions allies who can thwart well for you are Lockjaw and Machine Man. You can get a decent thwart or attack from Lockjaw and he's handy to recur from the discard pile if you absolutely need him. Also, if you have Team-Building Exercise out and Nakia Bahadir, put Lockjaw in for just 2 resources..!
Machine Man can make use of extra cards in your hand to amp up either his ATK or THWT.
Essentially you want the allies to take care of side schemes or at least start damaging allies...much of this deck relies on Kamala herself defeating the enemy, so you want to keep that in mind.
The (Embiggened) Red Right Hand
So Clobber I thought would be good because it can return to your hand without you triggering Morphogenetics...which means you can potentially play this three times and with Embiggen! that equals 5+3+3=11ATK! A handy card to do alot of damage...
Melee has been added for once the likes of Embiggen! is played...hitting two enemies for 5ATK is pretty good - even 3ATK for two lowly minions can prove useful.
With that said, I've added Chase Them Down to make the most of minion removal..combo this with Shrink, and you are thwarting for 4THWT at 1ER cost!
Finally I've added Precision Strike to help with Kamala's hp...again at 2ER cost and coupled with Embiggen!, you can get rid of a minion easily and fuel up.
Fishing and Milling
Champions Mobile Bunker is such a good card and if you can get it out early, I highly recommend it. You can fish around and get rid of cards that you don't want from your hand and potentially gain a card perfect for that moment.
It also mills through your deck quicker so if you missed out on using a card that was discarded, your deck will reset sooner. Sure, you will receive an encounter card for resetting your deck, but that's a small price to pay for gaining the ability to improve your hand and potentially make that important push or play, to either save you, or bring you closer to victory.
...And the Rest...
Rounding out the deck, the likes of Deft Focus and Martial Prowess have been included. As the Champions trait doesn't have its own resource generator, Deft Focus will help with many of Kamala's hero events and her all important upgrades.
Biokinetic Polymer Suit and Deft Focus give Ms. Marvel all the resource generation she needs to pay for her events. As previously mentioned, Team-Building Exercise also assusts in getting your allies in.
All in all, I've found Ms. Marvel (like many other heroes) have very very strong hero cards. What is hope to unlock with further experience playing her is how to synergise aspect cards with her kit in innovative ways.
Blindfold, for instance, can help Scarlet Witch in manipulating the encounter deck to her benefit; or there are various ways to build for Rogue because she gains any traits you choose...
I've not found that versatility in deck-building with Ms. Marvel yet...but hopefully to more I play her, the more she can unlock.
