Spider-Woman Leadership-Justice hybrid. Has several low-cost allies, but not exactly "Ally Swarm", since Mighty Avengers boosts the value of the allies on the table (rather than as blockers). On the other hand, "Avenge Me!" rewards blocking with them, and this worked really well that way too!

  • Mulligan for Finesse, Deft Focus, and Mighty Avengers
  • Once you have resource generators, you can stay up a lot (between blocks and Contaminant Immunity, her survivability is usually pretty good)
  • With cheap allies and upgrades (3x Overwatch, 3x "Avenge Me!") you can usually hit 2, sometimes 3 colors played per turn, so Spider Woman has good activations.
  • 42 cards, but both "Avenge Me!" and Face the Past are counted as "negative" cards in the deck (since they draw more cards than the space they take up)
  • Does well in 3-4 player justice, because the thwart game is strong with these allies, amplified by Overwatch. Because of the strong thwarting that allies bring here, Sentry is usually a good play (especially if you get him with an Avengers Tower discount).
  • Jessica Drew in alter-ego can check the top card of the deck to see if it's safe to play Scarlet Witch (or just to see how much trouble she causes, then play her anyway... you decide!)

  • Didn't include this time Earth's Mightiest Heroes. Though Jessica Drew usually loves readies, here the allies are activating for similar numbers as the hero, so "Exhaust and Ally to ready your Hero" sometimes feels like a bit of a wash. It preserves the ally's health, but with 13 in the deck, you don't need to do that. Let them go, shuffle them back in and play them again next deck pass.
  • There are many other leadership cards that would be great here (like Rapid Response, Make the Call, and Inspiring Presence), but matching them up with useful Justice cards was difficult, so I cut.
  • Justice Spider Man isn't as good a play in Solo, so you can replace him with another good justic card, like Manifold or Speed or The Raft.
  • Deck name from a Spirit Island power card. You can see below how the Spirit of the island (Shadows Flicker Like Flame) is summoning all it's allies to overwhelm and terrify the evil colonizers who come to tear up and destroy the natural beauty of the island.

Yo Spirit Island is actually such a great game; ironically me and my brother rotate between playing it and Marvel champions.
