Wolverine is easily the best there is at what he does, and his weapon of choice when he’s doing it? Jarnbjorn.

This deck requires little setup and cranks Wolverine’s damage to 10, literally, as Jarnbjorn turns both of Logan’s 3 cost events, Lunging Strike and Slice and Dice into 10 damage events for 1/2 fist resources respectively. Although it costs an extra resource to achieve 10 with Slice and Dice, it can’t be understated how strong this is, because that could easily clear 2 5 health minions in multiplayer. You could always spend 1 less for 5 damage on one attack, and 3 the next.

Klaw learned the math when I OTK his stage 3 with two Lunging Strike and a basic attack while swinging the axe.

What’s even better and more consistent is Wolverine’s favorite aggression card, Clobber. For the low cost of 1er (and 2 health) you get 5 damage. That’s 1 cheaper than Toe to Toe and you didn’t even have to get punched in the face for it.

And for the holy grail scenario*…4 minions on the board with 4 health or less, you with 4 extra fist resources in hand and Jarnbjorn out…I hope you kept your health up for this one because it’s time to unleash the real Berserker Barrage. If you can survive 10 damage that’s 4 minions cleared and 8 damage to go wherever you please. Will this happen often? Absolutely not, but that’s why it’s theorycrafting!

Now you may be saying, well that’s just one card…what if it’s on the bottom of your deck? This deck is stacked with fist resources, opening up the option to Drop Kick. Now, while you can’t use your claws to get the precious kicker, you CAN use it on the event that you may draw from it. All these fist resource cards opens up the playing field for Hulk. Now be warned, as the current deck does come with 7 mental resources, so you have a base 17.5% chance to just discard him, so you may want to swap him out if you don’t want to take the risk.

Between 3 Drop Kick and 3 confuses Psylocke and Professor X, you have some solid control at the same time as you are deleting enemies. For the anti hulk fans, you could consider Weapon X as you will have to flip down at some point or any ally you prefer, although I would try to lean for a fist resource ally if you can.

Notes on the deck:

  • This deck is very rushdown heavy, but offers a good amount of crowd control with 3 stuns and confuses. Psylocke is almost always top priority when she enters your hand.
  • In multiplayer, pair this with a good thwarter or someone who can run interference for villain attacks to make sure your health is kept up.
  • playing true solo often, I found Combat Training not worth adding, as basic attacks aren’t common. So you may be wondering, why Skilled Strike then? It’s a fist resource that can still get it’s value from an axe swing, and also makes a big turn when Jubilé lets the sparks fly.
  • Martial Prowess may seem odd for a hero who doesn’t need help playing cards, but it does two things. It ensures Drop Kick gets the kicker AND frees up another fist resource when paying for cards outside of claws, boosting each attack by 2.
  • Moment of Triumph health recovery is factored before Jarnbjorn, sadly. You should be able to to use it in between your Berserker Barrage
  • For scenarios with rough attachments cough goblin glider Sunfire is subbed in for Machine Man.
  • Miles enter play bonus will almost always go to Thwart, giving you 2 allies that enter play with 3 thwart, bursting down side schemes. Since he’ll probably chump block the following villain turn that’s more than worth his inclusion. Plus, this deck can have a Spider-Man, Hulk, and Wolverine on the board! Give us a Ghost Riser ally FFG! (Yes I know it’s the wrong Spider-Man but it’s pretty close to their Fantastic 4)

I wanted to buil around the Clobber / Jarnbjorn combo too, this seems like a solid way to do it!

Congrats!

Great minds! Glad you like it, I was very happy to finally find an aggression build that clicked for me for Wolverine. I hope it clicks for you as well!

Shared your profile and concept in this deck! I’ve been recommending your combo to Wolverine players on discord ever since seeing this from your post. Would like again if I could. Very underrated!
