LCG Discord Card Spotlight
Goal to build a deck that features the current spotlit card: First Aid
I pulled the inspiration from my SCL Season 15 Round 1 deck, however I wanted to move it to Justice to make the deck more universal.
This deck can be tuned for any aspect. See below.
GAME PLAN:
Alter-Ego is Confusing
Focus of the deck is to stay in Alter-Ego. With 4 confuse in the deck plus ways to shuffle them back into the deck. It is pretty easy to get a solid confuse lock going. Additionally you have Under Surveillance to help in match ups with low Main Scheme Thresholds. Under Surveillance is why I went Justice over Aggression with this build.
First Aid + X-Mansion
Your primary source of damage is Allies. Since you will be staying in AE most of the time, you will rarely need to block with an ally. So keeping them around and attacking is important. X-Mansion is the first priority of this deck.
Recursion
As noted above, X-Mansion is top priority. It enables Mutant Education and X-Men Instruction to draw a card. Both of these cards are intended for use with Creole Charmer and Dazzler/Professor X. This enables you to keep the confusion lock going.
Utopia + Honorary X-Men
This deck uses this card to it's fullest potential. You're healing allies so, you will be riding the ally limit. Getting Honorary X-Men into play is a big deal (hopefully flip hero to do this on a Professor X turn). Once Honorary X-Men is out, Utopia acts as a ready in AE. Combo turn might be Meditation for X-men ally which activates Utopia to ready Remy Lebeau so you can heal/use his ability/Meditation again.
Finishing the Game
You're not going to need to stay in AE all of the time. Sometimes you might have to deal with a Minion. Find advantageous spots to flip up and build your counters. Use Gambit's excellent Attack suite to close the game out.
Gambit Upgrades
Gambit's Staff + Gambit's Guild Armor aren't necessary. You shouldn't be defending. Doesn't hurt to thin the deck but I'd never put a priority on playing these.
FLEXIBLE ASPECT:
So the core of the basic deck is tight with the exceptions listed in Alternate Considerations. However, the aspect cards can be swapped out easily. Goal in other aspects is 3+ X-men allies and maybe one aspect piece that could be beneficial.
- Protection is the exception where Med Team is better than First Aid. See deck linked above on how I'd play that.
- Aggression is just allies. Psylocke is the important one, the rest should be a tool box based on what you're playing.
- Leadership has Make the Call, and Make the Call is possibly the best card in the game. I'd definitely add Beast. The rest are toolbox for the matchup. The Triskelion is a consideration but probably unnecessary. I'd also favor 3 Mutant Education over X-Men Instruction.
ALTERNATE CONSIDERATIONS:
Honorary X-Men #2 - This card is a powerful enabler and is likely worth the 41st slot.
Mutant Education/X-Men Instruction #3 - If Dazzler wasn't in the deck I'd swap the count to 3-1 in favor of Mutant Education. However with 2 confuse allies X-Men Instruction becomes better.
