I have played this deck a lot. 2 hand solo ended up being the majority, but I have used it in True Solo, 3P, and even 4P. It does better than it should in all of these cases.

Theme

Manifold and Cable don't exactly have a deep and lavish history. But they are not strangers. They were teammates at S.W.O.R.D. and X-Men Red. Marrow did a stint on X-Force with Cable during a particularly rough time for her. She worked through it with physical therapy. As in she got very physical and it was therapeutic. Forge was rescued from the prison of his own mind by Cable, then helped him save the world a few times.

The point is. There are roots here for a good team. I think they are worthy of continuing as X-Men Red. Also, turns out Manifold and Cable go together like Nashville Hots and Blue cheese dressing in Marvel Champions.

Getting Started

Opening hand goal is two fold. First, aim to defeat your first player side scheme. Lots of options for that. Clear the Area, Lay Down the Law, and Mind Scan will be the easiest. But you can use an ally if it ends up in your hand.

Soldier X best target is usually Build Support. When defeated grab Graymalkin. If you get super unlucky and Build Support is in your hand, you will have to pick something else. If you are playing 3+ players, talk to your group. Playing a side scheme they will also want to beat is helpful.

Strategy

Pretty simple really. Every turn you want to defeat a player side scheme, and change form if the scenario allows it. X-Bunker, and Professor help you take great advantage of alter ego form. Remember that defeating side schemes readies Graymalkin, sets up Turn the Tide, and once a turn can ready Cable.

Chance Encounter helps you fetch the ally you need at that moment. It can also be used to fetch an ally from discard that you can just spend as a resource. Overwatch allows you to double dip on big thwarts.

Once you have 4+ side schemes in the victory display use Superpower Training to grab Plasma Rifle.

From here it becomes Rifle, Basic attack and Telekinetic Blast to finish the game.

One Way or Another is a late game play too. Good for when you think you have a shot at closing the deal or need a side scheme. Also if you just have enough margin to not be worried by the encounter.

The Remaining

Forge helps by fetching X-Bunker. There are a few situations where you can play him mostly for a block and also grab IPAC. This is usually done just to spend IPAC as a resource.

Manifold is a great target for chance encounter when you need a Player Side Scheme from your deck or discard. His thwart is good, but don't be shy about using him to block. Having him in your discard pile makes him a target for Chance Encounter next time it is out.

Marrow great for taking care of pesky issues with some cheap brute force. Also great at taking a hit for you.

Clear the Area try to only use if you can clear the last threat off something and get that sweet sweet card draw.

Lay Down the Law should have plenty of Genius resource to make big thwarts when you flip up from alter ego.

Mind Scan massive thwart later in game, but pretty much always worth it.

Turn the Tide seems to always be there when you need it. Taking down side schemes is already a priority, but getting 3 damage as a kicker is great.

IPAC is pretty low priority. It can thin the deck and late game give a great little bonus, but is usually better used as a resource.

Moira MacTaggert is good for an extra card, but X-Bunker and Professor should be higher priority.

Deft Focus great for use with Mind Scan and Telekinetic Blast.

Heroic Intuition with this and defeated Technovirus Purge Cable has a 4 Thwart.

Skilled Investigator the earlier you play this, the more cards it will draw you.

Player Side Schemes Well, the ones not previously mentioned.

Generation X usually grabs Mind Scan or Telekinetic Blast.

Render Medical Aid seems to always be there when you need it. Who doesn't like some heals?

Technovirus Purge honestly, i usually wait for Cable's Obligation to pull this out for me. It is almost always better spent as a resource and waiting for the obligation. If you see the obligation discarded from encounter deck, it becomes a safer play.
