The Fast and the Furious

There's been 1 thing I've been trying to do for a while - make a Quicksilver build in justice that actually works. Thankfully, we're finally in a place where this not only works, but can be a lot of fun.

Move over 2 Fast 2 Furious, we're about to use some moves you can't even comprehend, Tokyo-Drift style.

Skip to Deck Strategy to get past the kit analysis

2 Fast 2 Furious

Quicksilver does 2 things:

  • Ready
  • Use his basic powers

Out of his 15 card signature kit, 10 cards are around either readying or boosting/benefiting from basic power activations. Unfortunately, he has the lowest starting stats in the game and has only been punished further with power creep. Even when he's all set up, he's still just reaching the stats that Captain America starts with.

When he's set up, he's fun to pilot and can dish out serious damage. Until then, you'll use his lackluster 9 HP to try not to die while you try to populate the board with 4 costly signature upgrades. Thankfully you can use your aspect upgrades to help set up faster but it can still be a bit of a slog.

Quicksilver is unique in that he can take advantage of a lot of cards that other heroes may not want to. Super Speed allowing two basic activations in each phase means that building for him is capitalizing on these. Cards like Skilled Strike and Making an Entrance will not be dead in your hand nearly as often as other heroes with so many ways to ready.

Loading up with cards that take advantage of being ready does come with a drawback. If you get hit with Exhaustion (or similar card effects), you can end up with an entirely dead hand of cards. If you have Always Be Running in your hand then you're probably fine. If not? There's nothing you can really do. Protection is such a strong aspect for him with so many ways to ready via Repurpose and What Doesn't Kill Me. Otherwise, you can run an ally heavy build and hope to trigger Earth's Mightiest Heroes across aspects.

How do we combat all of these problems?

  • Accelerating our setup
  • Increase Survivability
  • Banking readies on the board

Fast and Furious (Deck Strategy)

This deck was built around 4 main items to make a justice build for Quicksilver not only viable, but strong.

  • Accelerating setup via player side schemes putting important cards into play
  • Benefiting from taking out side schemes with card draw
  • Combating exhaustion via upgrades
  • Keeping health high through healing, alter-ego access, and chump blockers

In this deck, you'll be boosting Quicksilver's thwart to help accelerate his setup while also gaining benefits from doing so.

Fast Five (Deck Setup)

We have 5 stat buffs that are in this deck, and most of them need to see play to win the game.

While we need to get these in play to win, there are some cards worth putting out first. Mulligan targets in priority order:

  • Friction Resistance is huge in making the most out of all the readies and works as our only real economy
  • Deft Focus works with every event and upgrade in this kit
  • A stat upgrade - scenario dependent
  • Superpower Training lets us grab Friction Resistance and also works to grab any other stat upgrade
  • Skilled Investigator is going to give us the card draw to help take advantage of all the player side schemes and thwarting of side schemes in this deck
  • Endurance lets us stay alive while we set up and delay the need to use our basic recovery

Fast and Furious 6

There are 6 allies here. They're all relatively low cost so they can activate while also blocking as necessary so Quicksilver doesn't die early game.

  • Ironheart and Hope Summers offer card draw when entering play and can help us hit all of the 1 cost cards we can easily play with Friction Resistance.
  • Scarlet Witch and Wiccan offer some good damage for minions early on when setting up at best and at worst, the ability to ping off tough status cards
  • Blindfold has three purposes in this deck, all of which are incredibly useful.
    • Helping to set up a flip to AE as needed by using encounter deck knowledge
    • Helping to determine if you can survive staying in hero form for another turn through encounter deck knowledge
    • Knowing exactly how many boost icons are on a card can be useful to set up the highest damage possible for either Scarlet Witch's interrupt or Wiccan's response. You'll still have enough encounter deck knowledge for the next phase (in solo)!
  • Quake can help in alter-ego to take down minions or ping off tough status cards

Tokyo Drift

The majority of Quicksilver builds offer a lot of readying and a lot of attacking, with aggression and protection being his most popular options. Here, we're going to do something a bit different.

There are 3 items that work a bit differently than a normal Quicksilver build.

Furious 7

We have 7 ways for Quicksilver to draw cards and help to decrease his setup time.

We also have some conditional card draw.

  • Hope Summers lets us grab any card in our deck that's a superpower, of which there are 13
  • Generation X can help grab an identity specific event, offering easy recursion of cards like Maximum Velocity

Of course, Pietro Maximoff also has some deck cycling card draw you can take advantage of if needed.

The F8 of the Furious

This is the best justice has ever felt for Quicksilver. Player Side Schemes have been a huge buff and picking the aspect most equipped to deal with them has been a fun time. I've been able to take down plenty of difficult scenarios with the accelerated setup this deck provides.

Hobbs and Shaw

You can easily spin this off into your own build by altering some of the events. With the amount of card draw and recurring of identity specific cards this build has, I don't mind sitting at 42. That said, you can cut cards based off of the scenario.

There were some other cards didn't make the final version but could be justified as swaps.

  • Build Support only works if you include Quincarrier and Friction Resistance is a resource generator that you can ready multiple times a round. Not worth it
  • Crew Quarters is great but once you're set up you don't really need to go into alter-ego enough and Making an Entrance offers some better healing in this deck
  • Cypher was here as a worse Ironheart. Confuse wasn't prevalent enough to justify
  • Dazzler is great but is expensive. Had to keep that cost curve low and utilize allies that could block if needed
  • Symbiote Suit is fantastic late game though I never found that I was able to play it at the right time. At best I was playing it late enough I was close enough to winning and at worst I was losing to late game scheming out
  • Turn the Tide is great for some damage but I just didn't have the deck space for it and every other event is very important and better works with this kit

Looks great, I haven't played QS in a minute. Good deck to bring him back out for

One Way or Another is really interesting for Quicksilver. When I experimented with it I found I just didn't have enough thwarting (early in the game) to clear the side schemes I was bringing out. Is it Clear the Area that makes the difference here?

@adsarf One Way or Another can certainly be a gamble!

Here it's moreso leaning into the side scheme archetype already to provide card draw and trigger Skilled Investigator while also letting you use cards like Clear the Area and Making an Entrance.

The player side schemes are going to offer bigger benefits so I'd recommend focusing on those first!

Upside The Head is sooo nasty with QS. Especially when hp is low! Big ups on this deck!! Has to be in the running for MC build of 2024 awards show.
