Cable of Life and Destiny (Feb. '25)

This is an updated version of my 2023 deck of the same name, with some minor changes:

• I added Keep Up the Pressure and Lay the Trap which didn't exist when I published the original deck, and considered Generation X
• I added 2x The Power in All of Us to help with the Basic cards in the deck
• I added Heroic Intuition, which I was surprised wasn't in the original
• I dropped Deft Focus.

Playing the deck

Put Build Support into play with the Soldier X ability and clear it to put Web of Life and Destiny into play. If, after your mulligan, Build Support is in hand (where it won't be found by Soldier X) put Call for Backup into play instead and clear it to put any WEB-WARRIOR ally into play (but I like Peter Parker). Either way you'll now be able to play WEB-WARRIOR allies, but get Web of Life and Destiny into play as soon as possible for the card draw!

Chance Encounter is a fun piece of the deck! It doesn't put the searched-for ally into play, it adds it to your hand. In this deck that's a brilliant way to find Otto Octavius and play him from your hand to ready your Plasma Rifle which draws you a card in the process! If Plasma Rifle isn't in play yet I like to find SP//dr for her "add her to your hand" loop.

One Way or Another is powerful here because Mind Scan can clear just about anything the game throws at you once you've got some Side Schemes in the Victory Display! Of course, when setting up a villain I always flip through their deck and see what my options are regarding Side Schemes, and get a count of them:

• Some do terrible things when they enter play or are defeated, so just because you can defeat them easily doesn't mean you should go looking for trouble!
• Revealing a Side Scheme is the cost for drawing the cards, so if there aren't any left in the deck, then no cards for you!

Player Side Schemes

• Build Support gets Web of Life and Destiny
• Call for Backup can be situational, but I like to grab Peter Parker to get around his resource requirements
• Keep Up the Pressure gets the only Attack event in the deck, Telekinetic Blast
• Lay the Trap deals 5 damage to the villain (not an attack, so it gets around Stun and Guard)
• Lock and Load can get Plasma Rifle or Psimitar. The Rifle isn't effective until you have some Side Schemes in the Victory display!
• Technovirus Purge boosts all of your stats and gives you PSIONIC, but this deck doesn't have any cards which require that trait. In a build which took advantage of that trait more I'd probably play this more, but in numerous Expert games I never played it.
