Hey all! Kennedy here documenting my decks for Con Of Heroes '25!

This year I'm even bringing some non-Hawkeye decks. The first in my line up with a Spider-Woman. She checks all the boxes.

Sorry for the double-agent shenanigans! This deck isn't focused on either of the themes for the con but abusing one of my favorite new cards this year - Gunboat Diplomacy. Yes... yes... another Gunboat deck but this time with a double aspect twist.

Goal

The goal of this deck is simple. Slap down two allies with the X-men and X-force trait - go wild by spamming Gunboat Diplomacy ideally with some really pumped up allies.

Why Spider-Woman?

Simple. Spider-Woman gives us access to two aspects with her unique Double Agent ability. We are able to cram in the best Justice and Leadership upgrades to really increase our ally stats. Here we are looking at using Mission Training or Danger Room Training and Inspired to pump even small allies into thwart machines!

• I considered at first using Gamora as she allows us to tap into the leadership aspect as our primary choice and deck build in Gunboat Diplomacy. A ton of fun to be had with that combo as you can use both Inspired and Comms Implant but you still lack the Mighty Avengers final buff and are a lot slimmer on all choices.

• I also considered Adam Warlock as my character thinking I could build a deck using every alliance card ever, but the singleton nature makes it harder to build around alliance cards with such different uses. Eventually I settled in on this deck and it's been a hoot at local game nights.

Perfect Set-Up

Let's talk end game here. We want two allies out - although at the con you can also count on other player allies! Ideally we can get Hope Summers and Pete Wisdom into play (the second sneaking around with Make the Call. If we have Children of the Atom in play this gives us 5 threat removal and 5 damage out of Gunboat Diplomacy.

BUT WAIT THERE IS MORE!

Let's get a training upgrade and an Inspired onto each of those allies - now giving us 9 threat removal and damage potential.

THESE ARE ROOKIE NUMBERS - WE ARE PREPPING FOR CON OF HEROES HERE!

Like all good Avenger's we are ready to slap out an Honorary Avenger badge onto Pete Wisdom asap. This and with Hope gaining the trait from her ability allows us to use Mighty Avengers to pump Pete's THW up to 6 and Hope's to 5.

Now an 11 thwart and 11 damage gunboat diplomacy is enough to hopefully offset all those One Way or Another events we play to get there.

Where are the Player Side Schemes?

Great question! The real answer is (in other decks) the better answer is this deck is built specifically for con of heroes - so I'm expecting that a lot of folks with have Build Support and Superpower Training for days! You should have a lot of thwart potential so if running this not at an organized con those might be great extra cards to take this deck over 40 to ensure you have some threat left to remove :).

Can we do even more?

Great question! For a while I had some Lead from the Front and Avengers Assemble! shenanigans in here to replace leadership allies but the deck was just hard to pair down to 40 cards. Running more than 40 cards was an option but the high cost of the allies in this deck made it a hard sell for me. But you can consider all sorts of abilities like:

• R&D Facility
• Effective Leadership
• and more!
